Learning to Cook, the Kampung Way
Some of the most meaningful travel experiences are not found in restaurants, but in the kitchens of local communities.
Today, we had the wonderful opportunity to learn how to prepare a traditional meal straight from a kampung kitchen guided by local women who generously shared not only their cooking skills, but also their stories, traditions, and way of life.
From preparing fresh ingredients to learning the little techniques passed down through generations, every moment was a chance to experience Malaysia beyond the usual tourist trail.
This is what community-based tourism is all about: connecting with local people, sharing experiences, supporting rural communities, and discovering the authentic flavours of Malaysian hospitality.
More than just learning how to cook, we were welcomed into a home, shared laughter around the table, and created memories that will stay with us long after the meal is finished.
Come hungry. Leave with a story. Experience Malaysia through its people, food, and community.
