A boot load of timber, nothing special about that us there?
With some maintenance projects underway we need timber to help us fix things, this timber is from one of the acasia species that is non indigenous to the area, the species is actually bad for the jungle, it monopolises the water in its immediate vicinity, drops its thick waxy leaves that carpets the jungle floor and stops indigenous plants breaking through and it's canopy can dominate light. By using this tree for timber, chopping it down, we are brininging balance to the jungle and putting money back into the local economy with the employment of local woodsmen who chop it down and mill it with chainsaws.

A bit windy and overcast due to the typhoons way up to the North of us but the dogs needed a run.

A glorious morning up here, a bit unusual for this time of the year but we'll take it.

The contrast, a few before and afters of the projects.
This year we were honoured to host 6 wanderfull groups who descended upon Tampat Do Aman do undertake projects to help the local community. Before each groups season I approach the leaders of the community to ask what projects they would like undertaken, this year the primary school of Tiga Papan asked for the floors of the clothes dry areas to be concreted, the pathway to the pre school concreted, benches for children to be built and the walls of the hostel, dining room and pre school to be painted with murals, these the groups completed over a 4 week stretch and I reckon they did a great job.
One group undertook the building of a chicken shed for a local family too, the idea of these is too allow the family to add extra income into the household.
The groups tackled all the projects in adverse weather (very very hot) and did a great job - Immense gratitude and respect from us at Tampat Do Aman and the community - "Thank you"

Tonight's full moon marks almost a month without my phone, due to it getting soaked whilst helping one of our summer groups with a bit of concreting.
It has been a busy month with 6 of our school groups undertaking some great projects for the local community. Being without the phone was a handicap in some respects but very nice in other ways.
Hoping that all is good with you all, the summer is treating you well whoever you are and whatever you are doing.
