Rest in peace, Sir!

In Loving Memory of a Stedfast Leader, Mentor, and Grandfather Figure

It is with deep sadness yet profound gratitude for a life dedicated to service that we announce the passing of Honorary Captain Tay Bok Guan.

Mr. Tay was a man of integrity and meticulous dedication. Professionally grounding his service, he served as a part-time staff accountant for the Boys' Brigade and later stepped up to serve as the national Brigade Treasurer in the year 2000. His visionary leadership extended to the wider region when he served as the Selangor State Commissioner from 2003 to 2007.

Yet, his truest passion was always the grassroots development of young people. He served as the Captain of the 1st Petaling Jaya Company for many years during the mid-1990s, laying a strong foundation for the company's growth and success.

To the generations of boys who passed through 1st Petaling Jaya, Mr. Tay was the embodiment of the Brigade motto, "Sure & Stedfast." He was known for being strict and upholding high standards of discipline. However, beneath his firm exterior was a deeply loving and caring soul.

He naturally brought a warm, comforting "grandfather vibe" to the company. He had a particularly soft spot for the youngest members of the Brigade, radiating gentleness and patience toward the Pre-Junior and Junior sections. He knew exactly how to balance discipline with a gentle heart, ensuring that every young life felt secure, valued, and mentored.

His final parade is complete, but his legacy lives on in the thousands of lives he shaped and the leaders he inspired.

We ask that you keep Mr. Tay's family in your thoughts and prayers. May God grant them comfort, peace, and strength during this difficult time of bereavement.

走进学校,守护下一代,扩展神的国度

感谢神的带领,自去年开始,砂拉越少年军(The Boys’ Brigade in Sarawak)

* 栽培领袖,建立品格;
* 走进校园,关怀下一代;
* 服务社区,见证基督;
* 同心扩展神的国度。

愿神兴起更多愿意回应呼召的伙伴,让更多孩子因着福音与正确的生命教育,看见盼望,远离毒品,活出神所赐丰盛的生命。

愿我们继续同心建造,继续发光,为主影响下一代!

Reaching Schools, Protecting the Next Generation, Expanding God’s Kingdom

We thank God for His guidance. Since last year, The Boys’ Brigade in Sarawak has partnered with Victory Home to conduct Anti-Drug Awareness Talks in schools, helping students build the right values, stay away from drugs, and cherish the gift of life.

The Boys’ Brigade is a uniformed youth organization officially recognized by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. Each year, we are grateful for the Ministry’s approval to enter schools and conduct educational programmes that promote character development, life skills, crime prevention, and drug awareness.

We firmly believe that the mission of The Boys’ Brigade goes beyond developing young leaders. We are also called to serve our communities, reach our schools, transform lives, and be a blessing to society.

As Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
— Matthew 5:14

Our schools are one of the greatest mission fields today, and our students are the next generation that needs our love, guidance, and hope.

The Bible also reminds us:

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6

Raising the next generation is not solely the responsibility of schools—it is also a calling entrusted to the Church. When churches, schools, and families work together, we can lay a strong spiritual and moral foundation for our children.

Jesus also said:

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.”
— Luke 10:2

Therefore, we warmly invite churches, schools, Christian educators, and ministry partners to join us in this mission.

Together, let us:

* Develop leaders and build godly character.
* Enter schools and care for the next generation.
* Serve our communities and be Christ’s witnesses.
* Work together to expand God’s Kingdom.

May God raise up more churches and partners who are willing to answer His call, so that through the Gospel and holistic life education, more young people will discover hope, stay away from drugs, and experience the abundant life that God has prepared for them.

May we continue to build together, continue to shine, and make a lasting impact on the next generation for the glory of God.
