Herzlichen Dank für die vielen Reaktionen auf den Post vom Mai!
Die Zwischenzeit haben wir noch mit Liegengebliebenem und Schwitzen verbracht, denn Swakopmund hatte ziemlich lange Ostwind und 35 Grad Wärme ... und das im Winter! Sand gefegt haben wir natürlich auch jede Menge, aber jetzt ist zum Glück wieder alles normal und die Hochsaison darf beginnen.
Das hat sie auch!
Beeilt Euch mit Buchen, wenn Ihr noch ein Zimmer sucht!
Wäre super, wenn wir uns (wieder)sehen!

Oh man, es ist so lange her, dass wir etwas gepostet haben ... Ihr wisst doch, dass Sam's Giardino ein tolles Gästehaus ist, super-gutes Essen & ausgesuchte Weine hat, und dass die Atmosphäre einfach stimmt! Ach ja, sollten wir auch noch erwähnen: Wir sind im schönen Swakopmund zuhause, nur 10 Minuten Gehweg oder 2 Minuten mit dem Auto vom Meer entfernt ... Meer so weit Ihr gucken könnt, mit wunderschönen Sonnenuntergängen.
Nur mit den Wassersparmassnahms-Geboten unserer Verwaltungen müsste Ihr Euch anfreunden - Namibia ist nun mal ein sehr trockenes Land, und darauf muss sich jeder einstellen. Ansonsten ist Namibia aber so schön wie eh & jeh.
Euer Beethoven (ohne neues Bild - ich bin halt ein gesetzter Hunde-Mann geworden ...)

We had numerous visitors, warm east winds and sand, health issues, staff changes and other exciting events in the meantime but something will never change:
Sam's Giardino is so 'gemütlich' and good as always, thanks to the untiring input of Sam Egger, his dog Beethoven & his team! Sam started to train the kitchen staff in a new fancy dish he designed, also trained new employees, and also made further improvements to the soft furnishings around the guesthouse.
No doubt, this is one of the best places in Swakopmund when superb food, excellent wine, impeccable service and pleasant accommodation at reasonable prices is on your mind!

Today is Independence Day, a public holiday in Namibia celebrated for the last 28 years. A young state compared to those in the 'olde world' but very worthwhile exploring!
It's also the Equinox, yes, the Tropic of Capricorn still runs through Namibia, and we are now "sending the sun" again to the northern hemisphere - you Europeans had enough winter! :)
Last night, the Namibian interior had normally good summer rainfall - for hours, during the night and into the early morning - making temperatures very pleasant, as moderate as almost always at the coast. We Swakopmunders laugh when Windhoekers start fishing for jerseys but that's the difference when 30 instead of 20 degrees Celsius feel "normal".
Wishing you a mid-week reason for a party too!

wir können nur empfehlen, dass Ihr Euch schon sehr bald mit Euren Zimmerwünschen für dieses Jahr meldet (falls nicht schon geschehen), denn unsere Gästehaus füllt sich zusehens!
Es wird bestimmt ein gutes Jahr für ganz Namibia - selbst derzeit, zur Nebensaison, erobern viele Besucher das Land für sich und geniessen das bisher warme, aber nirgendwo extreme Sommerwetter.

High Season for overseas guests is slowly calming down, summer returned to Namibia with some wind and first rainfalls even in Swakopmund, and after a short break, the glorious year-end-season will begin. A growing number of visitors is now opting for the sunny but cooler seaside weather at the coast, making Sam's Giardino, its lush gardens, and sumptuous meals a preferred choice. Holidays at their best - here we come!

It's undeniably "winter" in Namibia, sometimes warmer in Swakopmund than in the higher areas of the country, and we are busy! Please contact us by email or via Nightsbridge on our website to find out about availability during the high-season months until November.
For the security of our guests, we installed the first cameras surveying the property, and added burglar bars on ground-floor windows. Hope you like that all is unobtrusive but helps to improve safety.
We also got a new reservations lady in Swakopmund, named Tamara, who can be contacted in German, English or Afrikaans, and our marketing lady in Windhoek is back from overseas.
So things are ticking over - we wish you the same too!

Die Zeit verfliegt, Ihr Lieben, kaum dass die Sommerferien vorbei waren, haben wir uns an Vorbereitungen für die neue Reisesaison in diesem Jahr gemacht ... neue Mobil-Webseite, damit Ihr Sam's Giardino auch besser auf dem Handy seht (sollte bald online gehen); die Teilnahme an diversen Werbeaktionen geregelt (hier sind wir jetzt auch dabei www.facebook.com/destinationswakopmund/); von den neuen Fotos, die Ihr teilweise schon kennt, zum Hochladen auf Listing Sites ausgesucht; mit Spannung verfolgt, ob der laufenden Swakopfluss tatsächlich nach dem guten Regen im Inland von Namibia noch die Sandbarriere zum Atlantik durchbricht (hat er bisher nicht geschafft, aber der Sommer ist ja noch nicht zuende); nach mehrmals Ostwind hintereinander gründlich Hausputz gemacht, um den Sand zu beseitigen ... kaum war der eine fertig, kam der nächste Ostwind ...; Familien-Wiedersehen gefeiert, und so Diverses mehr.
In Kürze sind wir also startklar für Eure Besuche, auf die wir uns sehr freuen!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, and wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2017 too!
Sam's Giardino and Swakopmund are filled with summer holiday guests, many of them from Windhoek who wanted to escape for a while from heat and drought.
Namibia keeps looking to the skies for rain clouds, and although our coast is not affected, please help us pray for a good main rainy season to see the majority of our people and our wildlife through another year.
