Sometimes you need a little extra quiet 🌿

After a day of exploring Amsterdam, it's nice to have a space that's all yours.

Our private rooms combine the warmth of a hostel with the comfort of your own place to unwind. 💛

The moments between the adventures 🌿✨

Looking for a quiet place to read, recharge after a day in the city, or meet fellow travellers?

Our common spaces are made for exactly that. 🌿

Because every great trip needs a little downtime too.

More than a place to stay ✨

Over the next month, we'll continue welcoming travellers, like you, from around the world into the Shelter community.

As a hostel with a social mission, we believe hospitality can be a force for good. Every stay helps support the work we do beyond the hostel walls.

Throughout spring, summer, and autumn, we welcome travellers. In winter, the same building supports programmes that help people move towards stable housing and a fresh start.

Different seasons, the same purpose: creating a place where people are welcomed with care, dignity, and hope. 🌿

A meal with purpose 💛🍽️

Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming around 35 Muskathletes to Shelter's Table. 🌿

Over the past year, these Muskathletes have committed themselves to standing against the injustice of human trafficking and forced prostitution. Each participant raised money to support the work of Scharlaken Koord. This is one of the ministries of Tot Heil des Volks, which helps people who want to leave prostitution behind and build a new future.

What made this evening so special was not only the impact they have made, but also the opportunity to come together. To share stories, reflect on what they had seen and learned, and connect with others who have been deeply moved by this cause.

Moments like these remind us that The Table is about more than food. It's about community, meaningful conversations, and bringing people together around a shared purpose. 💛

Slow autumn mornings 🍂☕

The city outside is waking up to grey skies and rainy streets, while inside it’s warm, cozy, and filled with the smell of fresh coffee and breakfast. 🌿

At Shelter, mornings are meant to be enjoyed slowly. Find a seat by the window, watch the rain fall in the garden, share a table with fellow travellers, and start your day at a gentler pace.

Because sometimes the best part of exploring Amsterdam is taking a moment to slow down first. 💛✨

Who else loves a cozy breakfast on a rainy autumn morning?

Faith, community, and a place to belong 💛

As a Christian hostel, our faith shapes who we are and how we welcome people from all over the world.

Throughout the week, guests and staff are invited to gather for moments of prayer, worship, and reading God's Word together. These are simple but meaningful moments that remind us of what brings us together and the hope we share.

Whether you've followed Jesus for years, are curious about faith, or simply want to listen and learn, you're welcome here. We believe hospitality starts with creating a space where everyone feels seen, valued, and at home 🌿

We'd love for you to join us in our Chapel ✨

Discovering Amsterdam 🗺️✨

It's nice to do your research before you come to the city. But some of the best travel moments happen when you step off the planned route.

A café you didn't know existed. A quiet courtyard hidden behind busy streets. A neighbourhood you'd never have visited if someone hadn't pointed it out on a map.

That's one of our favourite parts of travel: discovering something new, seeing a city through fresh eyes, and collecting stories along the way. 🌿

There's always something new waiting around the corner. And if you're not sure where to start, we're always happy to share a few of our favourite spots. 💛

Where has your best unexpected travel discovery been?

A bit of colour for your welcome 🌻✨

These flowers are bringing some extra sunshine to our reception desk.

We love the small details that help make Shelter feel warm and welcoming. As a Christian hostel, hospitality is at the heart of what we do, and we hope every guest feels that from the moment they walk through the door.

Here's to new arrivals, new adventures, and a little extra joy along the way. 💛🌿
