In 1698, Baron Daniël Wolf van Dopff shaped the hillside into a statement of status and ambition. As military governor of Maastricht, he built Château Neercanne not only as a residence, but as a place for hosting and representation.

The terraced design overlooking the valley remains one of its defining architectural features. From the beginning, Neercanne was intended to receive guests.

Among them: Château d'Yquem 2016 - a Sauternes from the only estate to hold the title of Premier Cru Supérieur since the 1855 classification. Today is World Bee Day. At Château Neercanne, we are marking it with an evening that brings the importance of biodiversity right to the table.

This evening, beekeeper Carlijn Martens introduces guests to our resident bee colony before a three-course dinner at Restaurant L’Auberge, inspired by the hive and the harvest.
