The beautiful Laaven Restaurant, looking down on the fjord, is open for dinner and lunch guests all year. Our wooden, traditional Sami hut Gabba cafe is open during winter, from 20.10 - 31.03. Snow Resort Kirkenes is North Norway`s biggest activity provider, and Kirkenes is the King crab capital of the world. Our original and legendary King Crab Safari runs all year, either by boat or snowmobile. During winter, there are a number of snowmobile and dogsledding tours you may do, as well as ice fishing, snowshoe tours and Snow yoga. In Summer and autumn you can hike with Huskies and go fishing, in the lush green and orange nature of the north. The culturally immersive Sami Experience is available all year. Autumn training days -Wet paws, warm hearts- preparing for Winter early bird that opens 20. October!

Fall training means wagons instead of sleds, mud instead of snow, and dogs who are just happy to be moving again. It's cold. It's a little wet. Nobody minds — least of all the huskies.

The yard is loud before a run — barking, pulling, paws everywhere before they get harnessed up. The ones left behind howls as the wagon pulls out. Then it's just wheels on wet ground and dogs who'd run all day if you let them.

We took some Swedes out to meet the king of the northern seas 👑🦀🇸🇪

First: full speed across the Arctic sea in RIB boats 🌊💨
Then: hauling up one of the Barents Sea’s most impressive creatures with our local guides.
And finally: the part everyone was waiting for — warm, succulent king crab, served fresh and simple. 😋

Cold sea. Big claws. Excellent guides. Very happy Swedes.

📍 Fun fact: Red king crab can have a leg span of almost 2 m — so this is definitely not your average seafood lunch.

Åsa spends her mornings feeding and training long before any guest arrives, and she says every dog has its own personality, its own way of asking for attention.
