From Australia to the heart of Bara 🇳🇵❤️🙏

We are truly happy to welcome a volunteer from Australia for a one-month stay at Mainali Farmhouse Homestay. During his time here, he will be engaged and learn about agricultural work and small construction projects while also exploring the beauty of Bara through cycling, village walks, and experiencing the local lifestyle. This journey is not just about volunteering, but about cultural exchange, sharing stories, and understanding the value of tourism at the local level. Day 4: Cycling around charkoshe jhadi, herbal farm and local villages.

In the morning, we set off on bicycles and rode through the villages to Jadibuti. After arriving, we spent time discussing production, supply, and the government’s future plans and upcoming desk initiatives.We then continued inside the Char Kose Jhadi area, cycling about 1–1.5 km into the forest to reach a natural reserve point. From there, we rode back via the chamomile fields, continuing through the Terai Tharu villages. The total cycling distance for the day was 15/16 km round trip.

We returned homestay for lunch, and after lunch, we departed for the Kathmandu Valley.

Day 02: Exploring the Historic Tirhut Kingdom

The day began with a peaceful morning at the homestay, enjoying a fresh breakfast and warm interactions with local neighbors. We then took a tuktuk ride through villages and farmlands, experiencing the authentic lifestyle of the ethnic communities. On the way, we stopped at Naika Village, Umjan, where locals harvest date juice as a source of livelihood, before visiting the sacred Gadhimai Temple. The highlight of the day was exploring Simraungadh, an ancient 10th-century site of the Tirhut Kingdom, where we witnessed a live excavation by the Department of Archaeology Nepal, giving a rare insight into history. The day ended with a warm local lunch and meaningful cultural exchange before heading towards the border area—making it a truly enriching blend of history, culture, and authentic village life.🙏😊

Day 02: Exploring Terai
An early morning rain gave our guests a slow and peaceful start at Mainali Farmhouse Homestay, followed by a late breakfast and a short tour inside the homestay premises where they were informed about the homestay food storage techniques, vegetables gardening , uses of compost manure and bio gas system which is helping the homestay to sustain in its own by product from the livestock farming and the corps that we grow in our farm. After a short tour inside homestay,refreshing walk through nearby villages and lush fields to the riverside herbal processing area, where they enjoyed fresh lemongrass tea straight from the farm, relaxed in nature surrounded by birds, crossed the river to witness chamomile processing with its heavenly aroma, interacted with local people, and explored a traditional mixed community showcasing beautifully crafted Tharu mud houses—completing a memorable and authentic 9 km experience immersed in nature, culture, and local life.

Today, we warmly welcomed our guests from Kathmandu and shared stories about our village and its journey into tourism. In the evening, we visited the nearby village market, but an unexpected storm brought us back home early. We then enjoyed a cozy evening indoors, playing Baag Chaal and sharing laughter together.😊🙏

Exploration Day 🙂
Early in the morning, our visitors explored the homestay farmside, visiting fresh vegetable gardens, livestock areas, and learning about the eco-friendly biogas system in use since 2004. After breakfast, we drove to the Herbs Production and Processing Center Co. Ltd. (an undertaking of the Government of Nepal), where we learned about herbs such as citronella, chamomile, palmarosa, lemongrass, mint, and more. The experience was beautifully complemented by a refreshing river walk through pristine water and colorful stones before returning to the homestay for lunch. The team truly enjoyed this meaningful blend of homestay hospitality, nature, and herbal knowledge. 🙏🙂

Happy Dashain 2025(विजयदशमीको शुभकामना)
Fulpati : Seventh day of the Dashain festival. It is a major ceremony in Nepal which falls within the nine nights of Navaratri. The name comes from the Nepali words phool, meaning "flower," and pati, meaning "leaves". Traditionally, nine types of flowers and plant leaves are presented, each representing one of the nine goddess forms of Navadurga. The belief behind Fulpati is that by offering these sacred plants, the goddess bestows health, wealth, and prosperity upon devotees.
