Important Travel Update for Travelers Planning to Visit Nepal AFTER FLOODING!
Are you concerned or confused after seeing the recent flood news from Nepal on 26 August 2026?
We completely understand your concerns. Nepal has experienced a very serious flash flood in the Rasuwa district near the Nepal–Tibet border, and we are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the people who remain missing. Our thoughts are with all the affected families, local communities, workers and travellers.
The disaster severely affected areas including Timure, Rasuwagadhi and Syabrubesi, with major damage to roads, bridges, hydropower projects, homes and other infrastructure. The flood entered Nepal from the Tibet border area and caused extensive destruction along the Bhotekoshi River. Search and rescue operations are continuing, while authorities are still working to establish the exact number of casualties and missing people.
What does this mean for travellers planning a trip to Nepal?
The important point is that the affected area is geographically limited. Nepal is a large country, and the flood has not affected all trekking regions.
Many of Nepal's major trekking destinations remain accessible, subject to normal weather and local conditions.

The Rasuwa/Syabrubesi side of the Langtang region has been directly affected, and the road infrastructure in the area has suffered significant damage. Therefore, we do not recommend travelling to the affected Syabrubesi/Rasuwa route until the authorities confirm that it is safe and accessible.
However, alternative routes and other trekking destinations can be considered depending on the latest local conditions.

Travellers planning to cross through the Rasuwagadhi–Kerung border should postpone their Tibet journey until further notice because the border area and connecting infrastructure have been severely affected.
