Nyadha House hosted the Nyadha Open House and Thangka Art Exhibition at Nyadha House Bed & Breakfast, Patan Dhoka, on Wednesday. The event brought together diplomats, local officials, cultural practitioners and civil society leaders to celebrate Patan’s living heritage and promote sustainability and responsible tourism.
The programme featured a curated display of traditional Thangka paintings presented by Phenomenal Art Gallery, set against the backdrop of Nyadha House’s restored Newari architecture. Organisers said the exhibition aimed to give visitors insight into the spiritual and artistic significance of the Himalayan Thangka tradition while demonstrating how heritage sites can operate as sustainable hospitality spaces.

We were truly honored to have the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of malaysia Mr. Mohd Firdous Azman, join us at the Nyadha House Exhibition and share a few thoughtful remarks.

During the Nyadha Open House & Thanka Art Exhibition, we were deeply encouraged when Mr. Samir Thapa, President of Global Compact Nepal spoke about the carbon emission assessment of Nyadha House calculated by the Global Compact Nepal team and found to be remarkably low.

Hearing this acknowledgment in a room full of partners, diplomats, and community members reminded us why we started Nyadha House the way we did: not to be the biggest, but to be responsible, thoughtful, and rooted in sustainability.

For a small, independently run bed & breakfast, this recognition reaffirmed that every conscious choice matters from energy use and sourcing to how we host and build community.

Grateful to UN Global Compact Nepal for the guidance, the validation, and for championing sustainable business practices in Nepal.
This motivates us to keep doing better, quietly and consistently.
