Unfortunately, we had to file a formal complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority regarding Akaroa Holiday Homes' digital advertising, including misleading pricing on property rentals, false testimonials, and improper competitor pricing comparisons related to property management.
The Chair of the ASA Complaints Board determined that the advertisement was misleading because it made unsubstantiated claims. The full complaint and ruling can be found at the link.
The impact of these misleading claims fell not just upon us but also upon several other local operators, with lost bookings and also lost management clients.
The ASA's decision was released to the media last week.
Whilst competition is good for all, it must be fair and accurate.
