A little reflection on where it all began.

Over ten years ago, we invited Simon Devitt Simon Devitt to photograph our newly purchased Black & White Barn. We were just starting out in boutique accommodation, with two beautiful little suites and a vision for something special.

Those two suites are still welcoming guests today, just as beautiful as ever. The trees have grown, and so have we.

What began with two suites has evolved into Matakana Boutique — a thoughtfully curated collection of beautiful stays and experiences.

But what hasn’t changed is our belief that hospitality is personal.

Never automated. Always a conversation, thoughtful recommendations and genuine care.

Because for us, it’s always been about more than a place to stay. It’s about the people, the connections and the moments that make a stay memorable.
