11 years in the cafe scene, then we walked away and jumped into something we knew absolutely nothing about 😅

2 years later, and I’ve learnt more than I ever expected. 🔨

Here’s what Jose and I have been up to in our newest room bathroom and kitchen prepped and ready for paint, while upstairs the bedrooms and lounge are finally getting some colour! 🎨

Next week… carpet! 👀

We bought a 1970s motel with 25 rooms, a pool and spa… and the renovation list just keeps growing! 😂🏨🔨

This week: insulation, plastering, pool signage, new plumbing, fresh colours… and I even won a Bosch saw! 🙌

One project at a time, we’re bringing Mount Eden Motel back to life. ❤️

Bit a different update as I actually won a competition ✨🙌🏾 from Bosch Pro Tools & Accessories and it’s literally made my week. Been able to use this saw was fantastic it was perfect timing for us as my other saw has been playing up this was an excellent prize. Thank you so much!! Room repair: ✅ Success!

This weekend was a bit of a special treat for Jen, who got to enjoy a well-deserved treatment at About Face | Auckland Skin Experts for Over 40 Years Mount Eden. She definitely earned it! 💆‍♀️✨

While Jen was relaxing, I got stuck into the roof space and installed brand-new insulation to make our rooms even more comfortable for our guests.

A big thank you to everyone staying with us for the game Eden Park tonight. We hope you have an amazing stay, enjoy the match, and we’ll see you in the next update!

Pool Reno part 3 plus we had to repair an old plumbing join which left us with no other option but to rip up the our newvinyl and start again. Definitely not the best news from our plumber. We had guest checking in but we got it done and hopefully never have to worry about that again.

A little update on what’s been happening! 😊

We’ve made a great start on our new room and were making some awesome progress… until we discovered a leak under the concrete slab. 😭 So, we’ve had to hit pause on the renovation while we get that sorted.

It’s all part of the journey, and we’ll be back into it soon. Stay tuned next week for more updates! 😀😀

Our onsite manager is away so we checked ourselves in and made the most of it 😀 pick up a couple of statement trees for our pool and spa area. We absolutely love them i think they look fab! Can’t wait to add more to our green space by the pool. Our vision for motel is slowly coming together 😀♥️

Small improvements at the motel is what we pride ourselves on here at Mount Eden. This time we have partnered up with and we have stocked our guests rooms with their amazing shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We also got these stunning dispensers to match!

Just a bit of a yap behind the scenes of a motel owner in fact any renovation there always a better way to do things but sometimes that idea comes after you’ve done your original idea.

This is our take on it, we were trying to get the rooms renovated quick so each room was on main pressure being 70s motel most of our rooms are low pressure so our plumber why don’t you install outdoor mains till you do the room. Genius!!
