As a rough guide, it takes about 2.5 hours to drive from Auckland or New Plymouth, 6 hours from Wellington, 2 hours from Tauranga or Taupo. Glamping comes from ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping’. There is glamour of course, but there are still elements of camping. These are often the best parts of the holiday, like sitting under the stars and toasting marshmallows over a fire. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at the Pōhutukawa Tent.

We run entirely off grid, using solar power and a wood pellet boiler instead of fossil fuels.

It’s something we’re really proud of, being able to offer a comfortable stay without being connected to the grid 🌿
