18th July 2015, our wedding day (not to be confused with our Civil Union in 2005!) here in Hawke’s Bay

Getting married was as much a political act as a declaration of our love. Generations of the LGBTQ+ community would never have imagined a world where same s*x couples could legally marry. It is, in fact, still illegal to be Gay in over 65 countries and many countries are winding back the rights of all peoples in our rainbow community. The right wing politicians and governments would see us all stripped of our civil rights and firmly locked back in the closet.
