Our Hosted Platter Lunch is made for a slower weekend afternoon. A generous shared platter for two, a table overlooking the lake, and nowhere you need to rush off to afterwards.

$60 for two people.

We prepare our platters for the people joining us that day, so just let us know you're coming and we'll have your table ready.

A Promising Start to the West Coast Fishing Season!

The 2026/27 freshwater fishing season is underway, and there's encouraging news coming from across the West Coast.

In its latest Reel Life newsletter, Fish & Game New Zealand reports healthy, well-conditioned trout in our lakes and promising early-season fishing in the region's rivers.

And it's lovely to see Lake Brunner itself featured, with a photograph of a beautiful brown trout caught right here on our doorstep!

One of the things that makes fly-fishing on the West Coast so special is the variety of waters available. From peaceful lake margins to remote, bush-lined rivers, every day offers something different.

At Lake Brunner Eco Lodge, our fully guided fly-fishing experiences are designed around the conditions, the experience of each angler and the simple pleasure of spending a day in this extraordinary landscape.

And at the end of the day? A welcoming lodge, a delicious dinner and time to relax overlooking Lake Brunner.

**A lovely little mention from Qantas Travel Insider!**

It's always nice to see our beautiful part of the West Coast getting some attention.

Qantas Travel Insider has included Lake Brunner in its feature on some of New Zealand's best water adventures this summer, highlighting the kayaking, fly-fishing and beautiful surroundings that make this place so special.

And we're delighted that they've recommended Lake Brunner Eco Lodge as somewhere to stay while exploring the area.

For those of us lucky enough to live and work here, it's easy to forget just how extraordinary this place can look through someone else's eyes.

Then back to the lodge, where it all goes quiet. Dinner is ready, the fire is lit, tomorrow is already arranged. Nothing left to decide.

The River Fishing Season Starts Today
October marks the opening of another fly-fishing season on the West Coast's rivers and streams.
And out here, the question isn't simply which river should we fish?
Conditions can change quickly. Rainfall, river levels, clarity and weather all influence where the best opportunity might be on any particular day.
That's why our fly-fishing stays aren't built around a rigid itinerary.
Our local guides read the conditions and decide where to fish each day.
You concentrate on the water.
We take care of everything around it.
Hosted accommodation. Breakfast. Packed fishing lunches. Three-course dinners. Local guides. And a warm lodge waiting at the end of the day.
And while October marks the beginning of the river season, Lake Brunner itself offers fishing year-round.
The 2026/27 river season is now underway.

Sometimes mowing the lawns is actually one of the better jobs.

Today was one of those beautiful spring days on the West Coast, so I left the ride-on in the shed and got the push mower out instead.

And I realised afterwards just how good it had been.

A bit of sunshine and vitamin D.
Plenty of fresh air.
A decent workout.
Some uninterrupted thinking time.
And that lovely feeling of actually being able to see what you've achieved.

I can spend hours answering emails, working on the website or creating social media posts and, at the end of the day, wonder what I've actually accomplished.

Mow a lawn and there's no question.

You turn around and there it is. Done.

There's something very satisfying about that.

My head feels clearer, the lodge grounds look better, and I'm physically tired in that good way that makes me fairly certain I'll sleep well tonight.

Not a bad result from an afternoon's work.

Although after spending a few hours outside on a beautiful West Coast spring day, there's one other reminder for the season ahead...

Always wear sunscreen. ☀️

That last line really sums up what we hope a stay here feels like.

It's rarely one big thing. It's arriving and feeling welcome. A room you're comfortable in. Coming back to the fire. Sitting down to dinner without having to think about where you're going to eat. Looking out at the lake and realising there's nowhere you need to be.
