🚲 ON YER BIKE! 🚲

Wits End now has 4 wheels! We’ve currently got one cruiser for a relaxed ride and one mountain bike if you’re feeling a little more adventurous.

We’ll be keeping our eyes out for another cruiser and a men’s mountain bike to add to the collection.

And yes — we’ve got our eyes on some helmets and a pump too, so if you’re pumped to get out and explore, you’ll be ready to hit the Kaikōura Cycle Trail. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

A little Wits End appreciation post 🥂💜

A huge thank you to the gorgeous gals (you know who you are) who stayed with us in July and decided that Wits End was missing one very important thing… proper champagne flutes! 🥂

They very kindly purchased these for the house from the Op Shop on Beach Road and they’ve now taken pride of place ready for future guests to enjoy.

It’s thoughtful little gestures like this that make hosting so special. Thank you ladies — we absolutely love them! 💕

Now all we need is an excuse to pop the bubbles… although at Wits End, do we really need one? 😉🥂

🌿✨ Look what we discovered at Wits End…

Hidden underneath years of vines, branches and garden growth was this little concrete nook tucked into the hillside.

At first glance it doesn’t look like much… but the more we cleared, the more we started imagining what it could become. 💚

Our vision? Keep the existing structure and natural stonework, train the grapevine back over the top to create a leafy canopy 🍇 and turn this forgotten corner into a tiny Fairy Walk / secret garden complete with fairy doors, lights and little surprises to discover. 🧚🍄✨

The second is what we can see in our heads. 😍

There’s a fair bit of work between the two 😂 — but sometimes the best parts of an old property are the things you didn’t even know were there.

Spring is on the way 🌸🦋

🌸 Spring is on the way at Wits End… 🦋

There are little signs everywhere — fresh growth, flowers starting to bloom and even the butterflies are making an appearance. 💕🌿

🦋Does anyone know what type of butterfly this is ?

After a long winter, we’re definitely ready for warmer days, sunny decks and watching the garden come back to life.

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that remind you a new season is just around the corner. ☀️

🏡 WHY HAVE WE BEEN SO QUIET LATELY?

If you’ve noticed things have been a little quiet from us lately, there’s actually been quite a bit happening behind the scenes at Wits End Kaikōura! 💙

🌧️ A weather event — Kaikōura has certainly had its share of challenging winter weather.

🤧 Winter ills & chills — We’ve been battling the usual winter bugs and taking some much-needed time to recover.

📋 And… resource consent! — We’ve been working through the process of getting our resource consent in place so we can continue operating and welcoming guests with confidence.

So, while we haven’t been posting as much, we definitely haven’t been sitting around doing nothing! 😂

We’re looking forward to getting everything sorted, shaking off the winter cobwebs and sharing more of beautiful Kaikōura with you soon. 🐋🌊🏔️

Highly recommend this experience- even though this “zipper” cried like a baby and was terrified! My son on other hand loved every minute of the adventure! (And deep down I’ll admit to enjoying it albeit in a slightly terried, wide-eyed, white knuckle fashion)!
