One of the things we wanted Treghan to offer from the beginning was the freedom to stay exactly as you please.

When you arrive, your guesthouse is ready, breakfast provisions are waiting and any welcome extras you've chosen are there for you to enjoy.

After that, the time is yours.

Breakfast at eight or breakfast at eleven. Head out early for a day exploring Northland or spend the morning in the garden. Eat out at one of Kerikeri's restaurants or bring something home and cook in your own kitchen.

If you'd like ideas, we're always happy to share the places we think are worth visiting. If you've already planned every minute, that's fine too.

Good hospitality doesn't always mean doing more.

𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿

A little piece of Treghan history walked through our doors this weekend.

Our very first guests stayed with us back in July 2015, when Treghan was still very much a work in progress.

Birdsong and Tranquility hadn't been finished. In fact, while those first guests were staying with us, we took them on a tour through the timber frames of what would eventually become our larger guesthouses.

They have returned to stay with us many times since, and this weekend we had the pleasure of welcoming one of those very first guests back to Treghan.

It feels particularly lovely to welcome him back now, as Murray and I are thinking about our own next chapter.

There is something rather special about looking back to those very beginnings. Eleven years ago, some of what guests enjoy today existed only as timber frames and plans. Since then the guesthouses have been completed, the gardens have grown around them and we've welcomed people from all over the world.

But perhaps one of the loveliest things has been the relationships that have grown along with Treghan, including some that began right at the very start.
