We’re excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with our local friends at The Butchers Breakfast! 🐷

We get asked lots of great questions here at Rakaia River Holiday Park, so we thought we’d put together our Top 5 Frequently Asked Questions for anyone planning a stay with us! 😊

⏰1. What time is check-in and check-out? Can I check out later?

We know 10am check-out can feel a little early, especially when packing up a tent or travelling with children. At the same time, we need time to clean and prepare for our next guests.
🏕️ Sites: Check-in from 11am | Check-out by 10am
🛏️ Rooms: Check-in from 1pm
Our 11am site check-in is earlier than many holiday parks, making it ideal for those wanting to arrive, drop off their caravan or motorhome, get set up and then head off to explore! 🚐🌿
Need a little extra time before leaving?
Late site check-out until 2pm is available for just $20, subject to availability. 😊
Early arrival + flexible departure = more time to enjoy your stay! ❤️

🐾 2. Are dogs allowed?

YES! We’re dog-friendly! 🐶❤️
Dogs are welcome at the park, as long as they’re contained on your site or kept on a lead when around the campground.
While pets aren’t currently permitted inside our rooms or buildings, we do have a fenced off-leash dog area right next to the mini golf course — perfect for letting your furry friend stretch their legs! 🐕💨

🚿 3. How much are the showers?

Absolutely FREE! 🙌
And even better… our showers are currently not on timers, so you can enjoy a nice, relaxing shower after a day of exploring. 🚿😊

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 4. Can I have visitors at my site or room?

Yes, visitors are welcome! ❤️
Visitor fees are:
👨 Adult — $5
👧 Child — $2.50
Visitors can arrive from 9am and need to depart before 9pm. All visitors must sign in at reception on arrival.

Yes, you can! 😍
If you have a favourite spot in mind, we offer site selection for just $2 per site, per night.

A New Chapter 🌿

We’re excited to share a small change at Rakaia River Holiday Park.

After many years of welcoming guests, creating memories and being part of the Rakaia community, we’re pleased to announce that Brooke has joined Reon as an owner of the holiday park.

For Brooke, this isn’t entirely new territory — she has been part of the team and working at the park for over a year, and we’re really looking forward to continuing to build on everything that makes Rakaia River Holiday Park special.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of the previous owners for their dedication, hard work and commitment to the park over the years. Their efforts have helped create the place that we’re now privileged to continue looking after.

We’re excited about the next chapter and, most importantly, about continuing to welcome families, travellers, friends and returning guests to Rakaia.

Bit of a grey day today at the camp but still lots going on!
Great to see families out playing cricket and frisbee on our field, and some in the TV room playing board games and colouring. Remember to get your colouring competition to the office by 7pm. Tomorrow we have our treasure hunt from 9am and our New Years BBQ from 5:30pm. There are still some pedal kart hire spots for this afternoon too!

Expressions of Interest to join our team at the Rakaia River Holiday Park

Rakaia River Holiday Park is located on SH1 in Rakaia, approx 50 kms south of Christchurch, set in spacious established grounds with a mix of cabins, motels, powered and non powered sites.

We are looking for team members for at least our peak season from November 2024 through to February 2025.

We are open to considering different options from an after-school role right through to experienced park managers looking for an opportunity to build further into our industry.

We believe everyone works together to help provide a great guest experience so the role may include one or more of the following that we need help with:

- Cleaning of our amenities block and units
- Gardening, general grounds work and maintenance
- Reception, bookings, guest check-ins
- Laundry duties
- Night duty / security
- Assisting with our kids activity programme
- Providing support to our management

While there may be flexibility with work times and hours per week, as the park operates every day, team members must be available and willing to work during some weekends, public holidays, school holidays and some evenings on a rostered basis.

We are looking for team members who have the following attributes:

- Are friendly with a good sense of humour
- Have good communication skills and are customer service focused
- Are healthy with a reasonable level of fitness
- Have great attention to detail, especially for reception and cleaning duties
- Are completely reliable, punctual and well presented
- Can follow operational procedures and are health & safety conscious
- Are level headed and work well under pressure
- Are flexible, adaptable and resourceful
- Will take extra effort to help ensure our guests have a great experience staying with us

Short listed applicants will need to undertake a clear police check, reference check and ideally have a full NZ drivers licence.

May also suit university students home for the holidays, or Rakaia locals wanting to work locally. We will also consider year 12 and 13 students wanting work if they have a reliable way of getting to work. We may be able to offer hours beyond February at owners discretion, if available.
