Founded in 1827, the Duke of Marlborough Hotel is engraved in history books on account of it being New Zealand's oldest hotel and pub establishment. It still retains an Old British charm and this permeates through its service and rooms. The Duke of Marlborough Hotel is located in the Far North of the North Island in Russell. The hotel is a three levelled accommodation consisting of 26 rooms and has four different types of room options Small room, Standard Room, Sundeck room and Waterfront room. The Waterfront rooms are newly refurbished and the Waitangi Grounds and Paihia can be seen across the sea. Complimentary continental breakfast is served to guests in the morning. The in-house restaurant at the Duke of Marlborough Hotel primarily uses local ingredients especially freshly caught seafood including crayfish and Orongo bay oysters. The Bar has an assortment of New Zealand wines and local beer that can satisfy the most discriminating taste. You can also catch up with latest sports at the bar's theatre sized Plasma TV.

Heads up! Our restaurant and bar be closed for lunch and dinner on Thursday 10th of September for a private function. The hotel will be continue to be open as normal.

We'll be fully open again as usual with our standard opening hours on Friday 11th of September, and are continue be open fully from Monday to Wednesday.

Rugby for Life do brilliant mahi across Northland - mentoring rangatahi, backing local clubs and building real pathways into education and employment through the game.

What a week - not only has the Taniwha smashed the Canterbury Lambs and bought the Log o’ Wood back to Te Tai Tokerau, but we found out that both The Duke and Charlotte’s Kitchen have been named in the cuisinegoodfood Guide 2026.

Big ups to Chefs Uma and Thibaut, Restaurant Managers Judika and Natasha - along with the rest of the Kororareka Group team - it’s great to see hard work being noticed on a national stage.
