Masonic Hotel. St Andrews 7988 NZ Hi,
We are Ron & Jane Edwards. Also known as :-
The Sheriff & Calamity Jane. Our intention is to restore this beautiful landmark.

We stumbled upon this Wee treasure by accident on our way to the Steampunk Festival in Oamaru one year ago, this weekend.

We want to say a big thank you, to Ginge for his work, fixing our windows at the Masonic Hotel...He has come down & stay...

He has come down & stayed with us, giving us a few days work each time.
Still lots to fix...

A wee update...Masonic Hotel
Jobs to still do..
Finish painting the outside of the Hotel.
Repair & paint all windows, inside & out.
Leadlight windows, some need to be repaired or replaced.
A number of our Ceiling are damaged & need to be replaced.
Some rooms upstairs need wallpaper stripped off, leaks fixed & repainted.
Our pantry is our worst room, we had a plant growing in there due to water damaged.
The floor was damaged but has been fixed now, but still more work to do in there.
Our kitchen was really dirty & needs a professional clean.
The gardens need to be completed around the property, we are still seeking old red bricks.
Campers toilets & facilities out the back need to be completed.
As we are doing most of this work ourselves, the date to open will extend well into next year.
We are overwhelmed with all the positive comments.

The big job of painting our beautiful Masonic Hotel...
My husband is a painter + paperhanger, by trade & is slowly painting the Masonic Hotel, inside & out.
We decided white building with black fire escapes would look amazing & slowly she is coming back to life...
We are loving the way the hotel is looking😁😎👊

Work done on the Wedding Garden.
Once we opened the dining room doors, we started looking at the garden & we found bricks from the fireplace, between the lounge & the dining room, all around the garden edge. Just wow!
The last owner opened the rooms up & then he had the bricks put around the garden edge, beautiful!
I have added more flowers to the garden too.
Also, we have fixed the fence around the garden too.
I love adding solar lights, I make solar light balls, I put them in the trees, so they light up at night.
The Wedding Garden, is all beautiful now😊

The Masonic Hotel, St Andrews...
This is our story.
I love steampunk & wanted to take Ronnie, down to Oamaru, for the Steampunk Festival, at the end of May 2025 last year.
I dressed up a top hat for him, found him a coat, dressed that up too & off in our motor home we went.
We stopped in St Andrews, at the cafe, saw the hotel was for sale.
We went to the caravan park, then decided to park around the back of the hotel.
The lady who owned the hotel came in, she asked us for help to get something out, we helped her, we asked if we could look around. She let us & told us about the pub.
We loved the pub & it started the idea for us.
We headed off down south to Oamaru.
We loved the idea about the pub so much, that when we came back, we put in an offer.
So, by the time the 5th of September came, we had brought the hotel and now it was time to move from Christchurch to St Andrews.
For me being close to Timaru has come full circle because my dad is from Timaru.
These are the first photos from the hotel.
We have a roof to replace, damaged ceilings.
When we arrived, we had no water, hot or cold, we had no power either. We camped inside the hotel until we sorted the power.
Our neighbours helped us with a number of things which we are very grateful for.....
