Ngongotaha NZMCA Park
With the weather that was planned to hit the North Island, we opted to change our plans and headed to Rotorua.
Saturday we ventured out to the Blue Lake and walked around the lake, a gentle 5.5Km stroll.
Then we went to the Redwoods and walked the old quarry basin track, again around 5Km, but with an elevation increase and really uneven steps, this was a little more tiring..
Headed home on Sunday so Jacqe could get some work done ready for the coming week.

We decided to get our caravan fully professionally detailed as it was hazy and had black streaks under the windows.
On researching companies who specialise in motorhomes, caravans, etc, we found Harry at Motorhome Detailing Company
We received a comprehensive quote for what we asked for, and on discussing the job with Harry, we locked in these dates.
So it was a quick trip up on Thursday morning to drop the van off then to return Friday afternoon to collect. Yes drop off and collection were at rush hour Auckland traffic times, not great with a caravan in tow. We survived.
The caravan was like new on collection and we had to ask if that was our caravan..
Awesome work and thanks to the team at Motorhome Detailing Company.
Highly recommend.

NZMCA Motorhome Caravan Leisure Show
Our yearly show visit done, and now it's time to read the brochures and decide..
Great to see the team at COBB Grill NZ as well and helped them by encouraging potential buyers, with user feedback.

13km, 5 weeks post-heart surgery, and one incredible day on the trails! 🥾❤️

After wrapping up the l'Anson Bush Walk, earlier we decided to push ourselves a bit further and headed from Plummers Point (Huharua Park) over to Omokoroa. Looking across the waterway, the destination seemed right there—but distance tricks the eyes! A full 13km return walk made for an epic challenge, especially with Simey hitting this milestone just 5 weeks out from heart surgery.

The trail itself is a shared path for walkers and cyclists. No stairs, but it definitely throws in a few surprisingly steep inclines to keep you on your toes! We even discovered hidden corners of Omokoroa we never knew existed. A well-earned pitstop at the Omokoroa Beach Store, gave us the quick fuel reboot we needed before heading back to Huharua Park.

Looking for a peaceful, easy Sunday meander?

We checked out the I’Anson Bush Walkway in Te Puna! This 1.3 km (45-minute) loop is packed with native bush, birdlife (it’s home to Tauranga Kiwi!), and local history.

Gifted by Keith and Takiko I’Anson to the QEII National Trust in 1987, the reserve is actually expanding to create even more native canopy area! It's super accessible and a great reminder of how much beauty is hiding right around our "home."

Adventuring to far-off places is always exciting, but sometimes the best adventures are right in your own backyard!
We spent Sunday morning wandering through The Historic Village, Tauranga, taking in all the hidden gems, incredible local art, and charming historic buildings.
If you love sour candy, you have to check out Sugar and Spice Historic Village! They claim to have the sourest lollies around... and yes, we were brave enough to try them! 😝 (Your thoughts?)
There’s so much to explore here—highly recommend adding it to your weekend list!

After a follow-up test for Simey, there was only one proper way to celebrate: a well-deserved breakfast out!
We stopped by Broomtree Cafe and it hit the spot. The Eggs Bene was top-tier, but can we take a second to appreciate this teapot and cup combo? 🫖🎨 The design and colors are stunning! Huge thanks to the team for taking such good care of us.
