Discover Oruaiti Reserve

Looking for a quieter side of Wellington? Take a trip to Oruaiti Reserve, tucked away on the Miramar Peninsula between Seatoun and Breaker Bay.

With stunning coastal views, native bush, Māori history and remnants of Wellington’s old coastal defences, this walk is a beautiful way to explore beyond the city centre.

🥾 How to get there from Trek Global:
From Trek Global Backpackers, walk to the city bus stops and hop on the No. 2 bus towards Seatoun. Get off around Seatoun Park, then walk towards Churchill Park, where you can access Oruaiti Reserve.

Bring your walking shoes, a jacket and your camera — the views are worth it!

📍 Oruaiti Reserve, Wellington
🚌 Around 30–40 minutes from central Wellington by bus, depending on traffic.

Meet Guido 🫶

Kia ora!

My name is Guido! I’m Senior Blood at Trek. Although I was born in Argentina, I’ve spent most of my life travelling from place to place.

What started as simple curiosity has grown into a way of life—constantly exploring, learning, and finding new ways to grow as a human.

I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to coffee (my morning wine), wine (my wine wine), and films (all the films).

When inspiration strikes, you’ll probably find me wandering around with my camera in hand and music in my ears.

As a neurospicy human, I have plenty of hobbies and interests—many passions, but a master of none!

Meet Keith 🙂

When I’m not tackling stubborn grime or making sure every corner at Trek is spotless and sparkling, you’ll probably find me in the kitchen baking up something delicious or experimenting with a new sweet treat.

Hi, I’m Keith,I enjoy meeting new people almost as much as I enjoy seeing a perfectly risen sponge cake. So don’t be shy—come say hello, and maybe even share a recipe or two with me!

I may have a sweet side, but when it comes to cleaning up a mess, I’m just as fierce with a scrub brush as I am with a rolling pin.

Meet Made 🫶

When I’m not working behind the scenes to make sure everything at Trek runs smoothly, you’ll probably find me welcoming guests with a big smile, sharing my favourite local tips, or simply finding little ways to make someone’s day better.

Hi, I’m Made, part of your Trek Guest Crew! I love meeting people from all over the world, having a good chat, and helping guests feel right at home. Add a great coffee to the mix, and I’m happy!

So don’t be shy—come and say hello! Whether you need recommendations, a helping hand, or just someone to chat with, I’m here to make your Trek experience one to remember.

Meet Daniel

we’re shining the spotlight on the man behind the scenes who helps keep Trek running and our guests feeling at home — Daniel, our Hostel Manager!

Originally from the Philippines and now calling Wellington home for the past 7 years, Daniel has a genuine love for meeting people from all corners of the world. 🌏

For Daniel, working at Trek isn’t just about managing a hostel — it’s about connecting with people, discovering different cultures and hearing the stories of travellers passing through Wellington.

And when he’s not making sure everything at Trek is running smoothly, you’ll probably find him with his nose in a sci-fi or fantasy novel. 📚

Thank you, Daniel, for your hard work, patience, leadership and for being such an important part of the Trek family. We appreciate everything you do 🫶
