Whangamomona Hotel The most remote Country Hotel in New Zealand, on State Highway 43 - 'The Forgotten World Highway' The current hotel was built on the exact same site in 1912.

Our grand old hotel offers a relaxing environment, simple accommodation and big country meals. The Whangamomona Hotel reflects the colourful and truly unique nature of the Whangamomona community. This is the second hotel built on this site after the first burnt down in 1911. Our valley has a rich history and our hotel holds a wonderful collection of photos and memorabilia decorating its walls. We have 23 rooms and comfortably sleeps 45 people (we can stretch to 50). Showers and toilets are all shared facilities in 17 rooms in the hotel itself. The Lodge is a recent addition to our grounds which has 5 self-contained rooms. Our working hours are dependent on in-house guests (especially in winter). Please call ahead to confirm we are open. The Whangamomona Hotel will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. We look forward to seeing you to eat, drink and disconnect (there is no reception in our valley)!!

Mark Law who was born, bred and raised in the Republic is coming to the Whanga hotel to launch and promote his book "Lucky you're tough".
He will speak on his life's adventures being raised in the hill's, his time in the SAS as an elite soldier and the Whakaari / White Island rescue and the worksafe debacle that followed.
There will be books for sale and he will sign books that have been purchased elsewhere.
There will be a Q&A and meet and mingle after.
