We also offer a boutique, family-friendly campground with generous campsites and sleeper cabins for those who love the camping experience but also like to have their own space with quality facilities. Also onsite is a modern Conference Centre for small to medium business conferences, retreats and strategic getaways (up to 50 people).

Another beautiful week here at Flaxmill 🌞

The final weeks of winter have been pretty spectacular, and we’ve loved welcoming guests from all over the country. Many have joined us for events, conferences and retreats, making the most of the peaceful surroundings and stunning Mercury Bay as the backdrop to rest, restore and refocus🧘🏽‍♀️🍃

There’s something pretty special about gathering together in a place where you can slow down, switch off and reconnect ✨

🫍 So lucky to have caught a pod of orca cruising through Mercury Bay 🫍

This pod are regular visitors to the area, with some pretty iconic members including Funky Monkey (the biggg one!) and Pickles, who is easily recognised by their missing dorsal fin.

A massive shoutout to our friends Hahei Explorer NZ for getting us up close with the pod 🩵 how lucky are we to have this kind of wildlife right on our doorstep ✨

Winter is right around the corner, which means Seal Silly Season is almost upon us 🦭

Planning on catching the ferry over to Whitianga for dinner? Keep an eye out for fury locals coming in for a fishy snack 🎣

If you see a kēkeno (NZ fur seal) remember:
🦭 Keep a safe distance, even if they are in the water
🦭 Do not feed or disturb them
🦭 If a seal is in real trouble (tangled, trapped, being hassled), call DOC on 0800 362 468
