Hope can begin with one more day

Some days, hope does not feel like confidence.

It feels like getting out of bed when you would rather stay there.

It feels like trying again after yesterday did not go well.

It feels like praying the same prayer even when you are no longer sure what to expect.

Sometimes hope is simply deciding that today will not be the day you give up.

We often imagine hope as something bright and certain, but it can also be quiet. It can be a small willingness to believe that tomorrow may hold something today does not.

A different answer.

A little relief.

A new opportunity.

A moment of peace.

A reason to smile again.

You do not need to feel hopeful all the time in order to keep hope alive.

Bring God whatever you have today, even if it is only a tired heart and a small amount of faith.

He can work with small beginnings.

And sometimes, one more day is all we need before something begins to change.

So if you cannot see far ahead, do not worry about the whole road.

Ask God for enough hope for today.

Then tomorrow, ask again.

Prayer:

Lord, when my hope feels small, help me not to give up.

Give me enough strength for today and enough faith to believe that tomorrow can still hold something good.

Remind me that even when I feel tired, You are still near and still at work in my life. Amen.

Benguet Auto Line: A Pioneer of Motorized Transportation in the Cordillera

The Benguet Auto Line (BAL) holds an important place in the transportation history of the Cordillera. Established as a motorized transport service in 1908, BAL is considered one of the earliest and possibly the first organized motorized passenger transportation services to operate in the region.

BAL developed from an earlier stagecoach service that connected the lowlands to Baguio. Its early motorized operations primarily served passengers traveling between the railway connections in the lowlands and Baguio City, passing through Camp One and the Benguet Road, now known as Kennon Road. The service allowed passengers arriving by train from Manila and other areas to transfer to BAL vehicles for the difficult journey up the mountains to Baguio.

As the road network developed, BAL expanded its operations and became one of the region's major transportation services. Historical accounts show that it operated regular routes to Baguio through both Naguilian Road and Kennon Road, while connecting with Manila Railroad terminals and railway stations in the lowlands.

Before modern highways and the widespread use of private vehicles, traveling through the mountainous terrain of the Cordillera was difficult and time-consuming. BAL helped transform mobility by providing organized transportation and strengthening the connection between Baguio, Benguet, and the surrounding lowland provinces.

Its contribution also came decades before the establishment of other well-known transportation companies, including Dangwa Tranco, which was founded in 1928. As one of the region's pioneering transport services, BAL played an important role in making travel more accessible and supporting the movement of people, goods, and services.

Today, the story of the Benguet Auto Line remains an important part of Cordilleran history, a reminder of how early transportation pioneers helped connect the mountains with the lowlands and contributed to the growth and development of Baguio and the wider Cordillera.

This is not where your story ends

Some seasons last long enough that we begin to wonder if life will always feel this way.

The same worries.
The same struggles.
The same prayers.
The same heaviness we wake up carrying every morning.

After a while, it becomes difficult to imagine anything different.

But the chapter you are living today is not the whole story.

What hurts now does not get to decide everything that comes after it. What did not work out does not mean nothing else will. And the prayers that remain unanswered today are not proof that God has stopped listening.

There are parts of your story you have not lived yet.

Conversations you have not had.
People you have not met.
Doors you have not seen open.
Prayers you have not yet seen answered.
Moments of joy you cannot imagine from where you are standing today.

This is why we hold on to hope.

Not because we are certain that everything will happen exactly as we want, but because we believe God is still present in the unfinished parts of our lives.

So do not let one difficult season convince you that all your days will look the same.

Keep praying.

Keep taking the next step.

Keep making room in your heart for the possibility of something good ahead.

God is still writing.

And this is not where your story ends.

Prayer:

Lord, when a difficult season feels endless, keep me from believing that nothing will ever change.

Give me hope for the days I have not yet seen and faith to trust You with the parts of my story that are still unfinished.

Help me keep going, knowing that You are still with me and still at work.

Amen.
