๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ WOMEN FOR THE NATION โ€“ CEBU

Women for the Nation โ€“ Cebu stands for the Nation, for freedom, and for unity.

We strongly oppose what we believe to be political demolition against Vice President Sara Duterte. We call on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to stop actions that may further divide our nation and undermine the principles of democracy and fairness.

Mr. President, the Filipino people deserve transparency, justice, freedom, and unity. We can clearly see the political agenda behind these actions, and we will continue to stand for what we believe is right for our country and our people.

This is not about political parties.
This is not about personal interests.
This is about the Philippines.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ Let us choose unity over division.
Freedom over political oppression.
The Nation over personal interests.

WOMEN FOR THE NATION โ€“ CEBU
For the People. For the Nation. For the Philippines. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

The recent Nepal disaster is a very serious warning for countries with mountains, rivers, and communities near waterwaysโ€”including the Philippines. The August 2026 flood was not simply a normal heavy-rain flood. Reports indicate that an ice-and-rock/glacier collapse triggered a massive debris flow and flash flood, rapidly changing river conditions and destroying roads, bridges, homes, and other infrastructure.

What should we learn from Nepal?

1. Don't assume flooding only comes from rain.
Landslides, collapsing glaciers, landslide-dammed rivers, and sudden releases of water can create catastrophic flash floods with very little warning.

2. Early-warning systems must reach ordinary people.
Warnings are useful only if people receive them quickly and know exactly where to evacuate. Nepal has been developing community-based warning systems, including local monitoring and digital alerts.

3. Map dangerous areas before disasters happen.
Governments should identify flood channels, landslide-prone slopes, rivers that can suddenly rise, and communities located in danger zones.

4. Don't build critical infrastructure where one disaster can destroy everything.
Roads, bridges, hospitals, power facilities and settlements need hazard assessments before construction. Nepal's recent disaster showed how the destruction of bridges and roads can also make rescue much harder.

5. Evacuate earlyโ€”not when the water is already coming.
In a flash flood, waiting to "see how high the water gets" can be fatal. Once an official warning is issued, people should move toward designated higher ground.

6. Prepare for cascading disasters.
One event can trigger another: landslide โ†’ river blockage โ†’ sudden water release โ†’ flash flood โ†’ destroyed roads โ†’ isolated communities. Nepal is still facing risks from unstable terrain and newly formed water bodies.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ The lesson for the Philippines

We should not wait for a Nepal-scale disaster before improving our own preparedness. Cebu and other Philippine communities need functioning drainage, protected watersheds, strict control of construction in waterways, river monitoring, effective evacuation routes, and reliable barangay-level warning systems.

The biggest lesson is:
> We cannot always prevent the natural event, but we can prevent a natural event from becoming a massive loss of life through preparation, early warning, proper land-use planning, and fast evacuation.

And importantly, Nepal's disaster should not be used to claim that climate change caused every aspect of the event. Scientists are still investigating the exact chain of causes, although warming is recognized as increasing risks to glaciers and high-mountain environments.

As a general opinion, vaccines provided through the Department of Health (DOH) for children should be viewed based on facts, medical evidence, and the individual needs of every childโ€”not on fear, politics, or blind support. The goal of the DOH National Immunization Program is to protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases and reduce serious illness and outbreaks.

At the same time, parents have the right to ask questions and understand what vaccine is being given, its benefits, possible side effects, and whether there are any medical reasons why their child should not receive it. It is important to consult qualified health professionals, especially if the child has a specific medical history or concern.

In my opinion, the best approach is neither blindly accepting nor automatically rejecting vaccines. Parents should be properly informed, listen to qualified medical professionals, and make responsible decisions with the welfare and safety of their children as the highest priority.

Women for the Nation (WNC) is NOT a political group.

We are guided by the values of being Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Makakalikasan, at Makabayan. Our founder, and the organization itself, believe in serving the people and loving the Philippines above personal or political interests.

WNC may support leadersโ€”not because of political parties or personal alliancesโ€”but because we have witnessed and believed in their genuine spirit of patriotism, service, and love for the Filipino people.

Our support is based on principles, not politics. We stand with leaders who inspire unity, uphold the welfare of the people, and sincerely work for the progress of our beloved nation.

WNC stands for the people. WNC stands for the Philippines. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ’š

There is no big or small in serving the communityโ€”only the sincerity behind every act. What truly matters is the impact you create, the initiative you take, and the heart you give to feed, help, and share whatever you can. Even the simplest act, done with genuine compassion, can change a life.

( In collaboration with the ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š
Tuburan Humanity Cares & Shares, over 400+ pupils were served during the feeding program. )
