Bagong Silang Productions, a team of student filmmakers from the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), secured a spot among the Top 10 finalists of the Dokyubata Young Adult Division with their documentary film โMahal Kong Zarzuela,โ as announced by the National Council for Childrenโs Television (NCCT) on November 5.
The production team is composed of 10 members hailing from different programs of the University of Northern Philippines: Paolo Atianzar, Daniela Estelle Iya, Reizell Anne Talavera, Ma. Carolanne Rapacon, Krizia Miles Almazan, and George Purugganan Jr. from BA Political Science; Alysa Mae Ardiente and Drexli Joanna Ambida from BA Psychology; Cris Niรฑo Planta from BS Cooperative Management; and Jerick Galindo from BA Communication.
Mahal Kong Zarzuela serves as the teamโs debut film in the DokyuBata competition and their first entry in a national-level contest. Director Paolo Atianzar describes the film as a โlove letter to the fading art of Zarzuela Ilokana.โ
This yearโs Dokyubata competition highlights the theme โKILOMETER 0: Mga Lokal na Kuwento para sa Pandaigdigang Adhikain at Pagbabago,โ showcasing impactful stories that promote and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The different entries under the Young Adult Division including โMahal kong Zarzuelaโ will be screened virtually on November 19 through the official page of NCCT. The winners of the competition are set to be announced on November 28 at the Heritage Hotel, Pasay City. | ๐ท๐ช๐ข ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ๐ข ๐๐ฆ๐บ ๐๐ข๐บ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ข
