GENERATION CHARGE INCREASE, ₱1.1649/kwh THIS MONTH, CONTINUE TO AFFECT AKELCO CONSUMERS

Power rate for the month of May increased by ₱ 1.4160 compared to last month’s rate with ₱1.1649 attributed by generation charge increase. For Residential consumers with monthly electric consumption of 21kwh-up, power rate is ₱14.9266/kwh.; for Low Voltage Consumers electricity consumption is being charged at the rate of ₱13.9849/kwh; and for High Voltage power rate is ₱12.3924/kwh.

Generation Charge are computed based on the combined monthly billing of the generation companies to AKELCO for the supply of power that we bought. This spike in rates is due to the rising cost of generating power and the volatile market prices for energy.

AKELCO charges Distribution, Supply and Metering System Charge (DSM), on the other hand, that are included in the blended rate, being utilized for AKELCO’s daily operation remains at P1.6109/kwh inclusive of EVAT. It has not increased since 2009. Except for DSM, AKELCO is only a collector of other charges and remits the same to the respective agencies.
