Let's talk about kimono for young girls, 3 vs. 7 years old.

Since it's United Nations month, we are receiving inquiries from parents who want nothing but the best for their girls. As someone who has been practicing kitsuke and collecting kimono for 16 years, every kimono has its own beauty and charm, regardless of its overall built. Ultimately, we will prioritize our clients' comfort over aesthetics, and we will refuse to allow our clients kimono sets that are not only uncomfortable, but also inappropriate for their age and the occassion.
The rest of the more detailed information is in the first two photos below, but I'll share a piece from my own experience.
A kimono paired with a padded hifu vest is the most comfortable option for three year old girls. It allows them to be able to walk freely (I've had a few lively ones who even ran) and as toddlers do, just be carefree. On the other hand, a full furisode set for seven year old girls becomes the best option as they can now carry themselves better, and compared to toddlers, they now have more strength to stand and last in a rather heavier option compared to its three year old counterpart.
Personally, I even had a 7 year old client in the past who barely lasted in her furisode. The child wanted to rip off her kimono so badly, the mom just decided to have me take it off of her even before the program has concluded. Imagine that same weight on your three year old. We probably wouldn't even have finished the kitsuke.
What I'm trying to say is there are comfy kimono options for people of all ages. Even if it's United Nations month, let us not sacrifice anyone's safety and comfortability just to look top-tier. Honestly, as long as your attire is authentic and well thought of (and backed up by research), the simplest attire can be the most ravishing.
TLDR: hindi po kami japan-japan. Please take our advice because we know our sh^t 😊
