What is the ribbon eel “singing” about? An eel (or moray) keeps its mouth open primarily to pump water over its gills for respiration.

They do not have wide bony gill covers like other fish. To ensure water reaches the gills and supplies the body with oxygen, they must constantly pass it through their open mouths.

Juvenile pinnate batfish are pitch black with a bright orange or yellow line around the whole body.
They swim in a wavy way to look like poisonous flatworms so bigger fish leave them alone. Top and bottom fins grow very long and elegant.
