Colors, music and incredible energy - this is what the Great Dragon Parade looks like.
During the day, all eyes are on Krakow’s Market Square. This is where a grand procession takes place, a true explosion of creativity.
📌Dragon Parade: Dozens of animated dragons from all over Poland (and sometimes the world!) march to the rhythm of drums and music. Each dragon is different – from the menacing, smoke-breathing ones to the fabulously colorful ones, made from tissue paper, ribbons, and creative recycled materials.
📌Picnic and Competitions: The Market Square transforms into a dragon village. You can meet stilt walkers, jugglers, and knights, and judges evaluate each creation, choosing the most unique one.
As dusk falls, the action shifts to the foot of Wawel Castle. This is where the climax takes place - the Great Outdoor Spectacle.
📌Flying Giants: Gigantic structures (some up to 25 meters long!) float above the Vistula River. They are animated from barges by professional actors from the Groteska Theatre.
📌Dancing on Water and in the Air: Dragons „swim” through the air to the sounds of epic music, surrounded by a multitude of lights and colors.
📌Special Effects: The sky above Wawel is illuminated by powerful light shows, laser illuminations, and water curtains. Spotlights track the dragons’ every movement, which, combined with the reflections in the Vistula River, creates an unforgettable sight.
