When tradition finds new ways of existing.
Created by Célia Esteves in 2012, GUR was born from the meeting of traditional Portuguese weaving and contemporary creation. Through collaborations with artists, designers and illustrators, the project reinterprets traditional techniques and transforms waste from the textile industry into new surfaces for expression.
From this world comes Nuages, a collection of six rugs created by Sam Baron, inspired by the vibrant blue of the Portuguese sky and handwoven by Cláudia Vilas Boas. Different techniques create the textures and volume that give the pieces their soft, three-dimensional cloud effect.
At the White Room, these pieces find a new context, between material, creativity and the way we choose to inhabit and share a space.

Quando a tradição encontra novas formas de existir.
Criada por Célia Esteves em 2012, a GUR nasceu do encontro entre a tecelagem artesanal portuguesa e a criação contemporânea. Através da colaboração com artistas, designers e ilustradores, o projeto recupera técnicas tradicionais e transforma desperdícios da indústria têxtil em novas superfícies para expressão.
É deste universo que nasce Nuages, uma coleção de seis tapetes criada por Sam Baron, inspirada no azul vibrante do céu português e tecida à mão por Cláudia Vilas Boas. Diferentes técnicas criam volumes e texturas que dão às peças a aparência suave e tridimensional das nuvens.
Na White Room, estas peças encontram um novo contexto, entre a matéria, a criação e a forma como escolhemos habitar e partilhar um espaço.
