Magical!
Funchal at Christmas – wow! The lights, the atmosphere and so much to explore, discover and enjoy – especially being in Funchalet! What a privilege and wonderful time.
The Christmas market, the Beach Bar near the fort and then Santa Maria – all worth visits we found. Lunch in the restaurant San Vicente was so good.
We discovered the Convent of Santa Clara is closed on Mondays and feast days but the antique and auction house nearby was a gem of a find!
The place here is a real treasure so that we will definitely return. We couldn’t have asked for more from such an excellent property. It is so well situated, well appointed, comfortable and very stylish. And Stephen got to create a masterpiece on the penultimate page!
We highly recommend Restaurante Santa Maria in the old town where once again we had an exceptional meal in the evening. Almost a perfect stay but unfortunately no one can control the weather – though Funchal in the rain is almost as beautiful…
Ale-Hop just around the corner, rain ponchos were available at low cost, as well as umbrellas! It really has been the most wonderful stay!
