This weekend, the estate fills with voices.
Great-grandparents, grandparents, children, compadres and grandchildren all arrive, each with a job to do. Some spread the nets under the olive trees, some pick by hand, some laugh at nothing in particular, and nobody thinks to check the clock. At lunchtime there’s a full table, fresh bread and conversations to catch up on.
And from those olives, picked with time and with the people we love, comes our traditional olive oil. An oil that tastes of the land, of the olive trees of the Serra de Grândola and of all the hands that have passed through here. It lands on the table, on the bread, on the plate, and takes a little piece of the estate home with you. 🫒
That’s how traditions are handed down from one generation to the next: without hurry, with hands in the earth and family close by.
At Herdade da Corte Salva, this is how the Alentejo is lived.
