Meet the Founders.

Long before Amara existed, each of us was exploring a similar idea in our own way.

A place where people could live closer to nature, learn continuously, take care of their wellbeing, build meaningful relationships, and be part of something larger than themselves.

For years, we worked on these visions separately.

Then one day, our paths crossed.

What started as a conversation quickly revealed a surprising overlap in values, aspirations and ideas. Rather than building three different projects, we decided to bring them together.

Amara was born from that meeting.

While the three of us initiated the project, we also believe that something like this cannot be created by a handful of people alone.

A village is not built by founders. It is built by a community.

That is why Amara was designed as a co-creation process from the very beginning. The architects, experts, families, entrepreneurs, artists, educators, wellness practitioners and future residents who are contributing their ideas today are helping shape what Amara will become tomorrow.

In that sense, we may have started the journey, but we see all those helping bring this vision to life as founders too.

The Wellness Center is more than a building.

It’s a place shaped by the people who bring it to life.

Within the community are nutritionists, breathwork teachers, doctors, health practitioners, movement coaches, researchers and many others, each bringing their own knowledge, experience and perspective on wellbeing.

The idea is simple: create a place where people can learn directly from one another.

Attend workshops. Join programs. Ask questions. Explore different approaches to health. Share experiences. Discover practices that resonate.

The real value of this place won’t come from the walls around it.

It will come from the people inside.

Meet Sophie 🤍

Art has a unique way of bringing people together.

Through stories, beauty, ideas and emotions, it helps us see the world through different eyes.

As the lead of Amara’s Art & Culture pillar, Sophie is helping imagine how creativity can become part of everyday life in the village.

Most recently, she was Creative Lead for the Art Basel Awards, celebrating the people and ideas driving culture forward.

Together with the community, she’ll help create spaces where people can learn, share, create and connect through art and culture.

We’re excited to have her on this journey 😇

Meet Carlo 🤍

An Italian entrepreneur, former architect, winery founder and long-time business leader, Carlo has spent decades building projects at the intersection of business, culture, hospitality and human connection.

After founding and running a premium winery for 45 years, collaborating with international companies like Coca-Cola, Oracle, Pfizer, BMW and Volkswagen, and leading initiatives across tourism, events and public institutions, his path naturally evolved toward something deeper.

Today, through his association Il Cerchio di Kòs, Carlo focuses on human development, community building, education, creativity and well-being.

What we love about him is this balance between entrepreneurial experience, philosophical reflection and genuine care for people.

A social impact entrepreneur with a rare mix of grounded life experience, curiosity and openness to new perspectives.

Very happy to have him as part of the Amara co-creation journey 🤍

What started as an idea on a screen is slowly becoming real life.

Over the past weeks, co-creators from all around the world came together to meet the team, discover the hotel built by Gonçalo, walk the Amara land, and most importantly… meet each other.

People from completely different backgrounds, cultures and expertise:
architects, entrepreneurs, artists, engineers, wellness practitioners, educators, creatives, athletes, scientists…

Different worlds.
But somehow connected by the same desire:
to build a more meaningful way of living together.

What moved us the most wasn’t only the project itself, but watching the first real human connections emerge naturally.

The first collaborations.
The first brainstorms.
The first friendships.
Long dinners, deep conversations, spontaneous ideas, people helping each other without even knowing each other for long.

It made us realize that Amara is not only about the land or the architecture.

It’s about the humans gathering around it 🤍

Art & Craft Studio at Amara 🤍

A space designed for humans to explore, create and reconnect with their artistic side.

Not only for professional artists, but also for the people who stopped creating somewhere along the way.

• Discover and explore your artistic side through new creative experiences
• Learn, create and collaborate with artists through workshops and art residencies
• Connect with your neighbors through creativity, expression and shared moments

Through the diversity of co-creators joining Amara, we already have inspiring humans with experience in fields such as ceramics, painting, textiles, craftsmanship, design and many other forms of artistic expression that we’ll be able to learn from and build with together.

A place where ideas become tangible.
And where creativity becomes another way to connect with others.

Meet Francisco Marques Teixeira (aka Xico)🤍
Neuroscientist, founder of MuLabs, and now leading the Biohacking & Longevity pillar at Amara.

Xico explores the intersection between neuroscience, technology, human performance and mental well-being through neurofeedback, biofeedback, immersive experiences and brain optimization research.

What resonated deeply with us is the balance behind his approach.
Using advanced technology and neuroscience not to disconnect from ourselves… but to better understand the human experience, regulate the nervous system, improve focus, creativity, recovery, emotional balance and ultimately help humans live more consciously.

At Amara, this is exactly the kind of bridge we want to build:
between ancient wisdom and modern science,
between nature and technology,
between performance and inner balance.

His role as pillar leader will be to help federate this part of the project and connect all the co-creators who have expertise, curiosity or experience in biohacking, health optimization, neuroscience and longevity so they can actively participate together in shaping this aspect of Amara.

The idea is not to have one person designing everything alone, but to create an ecosystem where inspiring humans from different backgrounds can collaborate, exchange ideas, challenge perspectives and collectively build the place together.

Through the Biohacking & Longevity pillar, we’ll explore questions like:

• How can technology help us understand our mind and body better?
• How do we optimize health without losing our humanity?
• What does longevity really mean beyond simply living longer?
• How do environment, community, nervous system regulation, movement, nutrition and purpose shape human potential?

If this universe resonates with you and you feel called to contribute, explore or build alongside us, we would love to connect 🤍

Some humans help move society forward through science and technology.
Others help reconnect us to ourselves, nature and something deeper.

What we love about Emmanuelle is her ability to embody both worlds at once. 🤍

Lead engineer at ArianeGroup (yes… she literally helps launch rockets into space 🚀), she also hosted a workshop at Amara about the universe, consciousness and our place within it.

At the same time, she works with horse tuning energy and carries a deeply holistic and spiritual approach to life.

She’s now joining the Amara adventure to help coordinate the main pillars of the project and bring her experience, structure and vision into the ecosystem.

And yes… she’s also bringing her horse with her 🐎
So thanks to her, Amara might officially be getting its own horse estate sooner than expected.

Meet Leandra, one of the co-creators helping shape the story and creative expression of Amara.

Leandra is a founder, visual storyteller and creative producer from Amsterdam. Through her work with Studio HER, she focuses on human stories, representation, creative campaigns and community.

Her work is rooted in one central belief: stories shape how we see the world, and who gets to feel seen inside it. Authenticity is therefore key.
At Amara, Leandra wants to help bring the human stories forward: the co-creators, families, makers, builders and dreamers behind the project.
Her vision is to translate the feeling of Amara into something people can recognize themselves in, so the right people feel invited to become part of it.
For her, Amara is not just a place in Portugal. It is a living story about community, creativity, care, freedom and new ways of belonging. And her role is to help make that story visible.
