Bem-vindo from Balaia Golf Village! I'm spending a long weekend checking and preparing our apartment for the 2022 season. We're ready to welcome guests. Happy 2022 everyone!

Great news for anyone thinking about summer sunshine and whether it's going to be complicated to travel to the Algarve this year. If you're fully vaccinated that's all you need to prove when you make your return journey to the UK.

For the time being, outbound travellers from the UK will have to comply with the Portuguese requirement for a independent test:

"Mandatory negative test for all flights arriving in Portugal, even for those who have a digital vaccination certificate, regardless of the point of origin of the flight or the passenger’s nationality."
. although this may be changing across the EU in the near future.

Today's government announcement means double-vaccinated travellers from England to Portugal will not need to take a Covid test before flying home and, soon, will only need to take a lateral flow test once back in the UK.

So... what are your plans for half term?

Fully vaccinated travellers will also no longer need to take PCR tests, says the transport secretary.
