A great tip for pitaya and dragon fruit lovers!

Less than 4 km from Vila do Ouro, you’ll find a beautiful pitaya farm where you can buy fresh, locally grown pitayas straight from the farm.

The fruit is delicious, refreshing and naturally packed with nutrients. If you’ve never tried a freshly picked pitaya, this is definitely worth a visit.

The farm is open from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A lovely little discovery for anyone staying in the area — and a perfect way to enjoy some fresh, local fruit.

☀️ Summer is back! After a few weeks of unusually cool weather, temperatures reached 38°C today on the pool terrace. The pools are a perfect 26°C, just what you need to cool off! 💦

The chameleon is back!

After years of absence, a chameleon was finally spotted again last week, right on the gate to the swimming pool.

From 2005 to 2017, chameleons were spotted here every August. After that, they seemed to disappear, and we were afraid they might have become extinct in this area.

Thankfully, that’s not the case. They’re back and making their way to the cool, green garden of Vila do Ouro.

Beginning of August, in the heat of the high season, yet with very pleasant temperatures of around 30°C during the day and 20°C at night. Sunshine everywhere, as well as plenty of tourists.

Vila do Ouro is fully booked, but we still have availability for the second half of August.

🌤️ Cool Summer Vibes in the Algarve!
Whenever temperatures in southern Europe climb just a little above average, the media goes wild calling it a heatwave. But when it cools down far below average? Silence. 🙃
These past 10 days in the Algarve have been wonderfully mild, with daytime highs around 26ºC. Perfect weather if you ask us! Evening strolls might even require a cozy sweater. All of it well within the normal climate rhythms of this beautiful region.
Check out today’s photo, a solid blanket of cloud above us! We’ve had cloudy spells now and then, along with strong coastal winds. It’s been breezier elsewhere, but here at Vila do Ouro we’ve had just the right balance. And the ocean? A delicious 22ºC right now; ideal for swimming! Our pools 27ºC….🌊
So yes, summer in the Algarve can go in many directions. But what truly sets us apart from Spain is our cool, sleep-friendly nights . A truly ideal climate.

The Algarve is so much more than its coastline. The inland areas are just as stunning. Vila do Ouro sits only 7 km from the shore as the crow flies. Thanks to the heavy winter rains, most rivers and waterfalls in the Algarve are still flowing, perfect for a refreshing swim! Today we’ve got 35°C in the shade, sunshine all day, and a light breeze from the east. The pool is a lovely 29°C and the sea is 22°C. All normal temperatures for this time of the year.
