Limiting yourself to July and August is genuinely one of the saddest things you can do as a surfer. 😅

October and November in Peniche: water still warm, waves actually good, no one fighting you for space in the lineup. You get more coaching time, more feedback, more sessions where something finally clicks.

Watching the ocean before you paddle out. Knowing your direction before the wave arrives. Rinsing your gear so it lasts. Stretching before you get in the water so your body actually moves the way it should.

That’s the thing about surfing. It breaks you down completely, and somehow you walk away wanting more.
