When a Google Review goes beyond everything we could say ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"The Mercearia d’Alegria was a delightful stay. A perfect oasis to relax.
The breakfast was all you need to start your day off right. You had a choice, but not limited to, 5 items from the menu as it’s great to see the venue is considerate about food waste. You could choose from coffee, tea, fresh orange juice (from the fruit), yogurt, fruit, toast, eggs, toasties, cake and more. It is served from 8am to 8pm and you easily book your time slot at reception.

The staff made you feel right at home. They were so attentive, cleaning the room every day and nothing was ever too much of an ask. They gave us brilliant recommendations on places to see and where to eat. It has been a while since I have stayed at a place where the staff went above and beyond to meet your needs.

The facilities were brilliant. The back garden had spots for a beer in the sun and to enjoy the sound of the gulls. The bikes were our favourite thing to do which allowed you to explore the surrounding area. We stayed for 4 days and used them every time. They also had beach equipment to use like rackets & balls, boogie boards, surf boards and wind breakers. Allowing you to enjoy the beach for longer which was only a 8 minute walk away.

If you are looking for a relaxing stay this is the ideal place in Peniche!"

Everyone's chasing the same beach destinations every summer. Fighting for umbrella space. Booking restaurants two weeks out. Wearing the "vacation" like a second job.

In Peniche, luxury looks different. It's having a choice of beaches - big ones, tiny hidden ones - and still being able to find one where your feet reach the water without stepping over ten people to get there.

It's a luxury to still be able to show up to dinner with no reservation and luckily getting a table - probably being able to choose a fresh fish.

Peniche is not a smaller version of summer and we are 80 km away from Lisbon's airport. Come find out what slow pace actually feels like.

There are some words you have to master and it all starts with our daily food rituals.

Here is your survival vocabulary for Episode 1: Cafe Rituals:

☕ Bica: Our golden ritual.A standard espresso shot served in a small cup.
☕ Abatanado: just like a Portuguese Americano.
🍺 Imperial: A small glass of ice-cold draft beer. The ultimate refresher after a beach day.
☀️ Esplanada: Outdoor cafe seating.
🐟 Petiscos: Traditional small plates meant for sharing. Think of it as the Portuguese version of tapas.
🥐 Pastelaria: it’s the daily social hub for locals.
🍷 Tasca: A traditional, simple local tavern with authentic food. Don’t get fooled by the new "modern" tascas, not that they are not good, but...we are talking about real rituals here.
