Guesthouse Pachel is our small-scale adults-only guesthouse in Ponta do Sol, Madeira.

Choose between Casa Vista, our spacious six-person house that’s perfect for a holiday with friends, or Casa Sol, an authentic little Madeira house created especially for two. 🏡

Whichever you choose, mornings begin with ocean views, afternoons are made for the infinity pool and sunsets have a habit of stopping everyone mid-conversation. 🌅

No crowded resort or fighting over sunbeds. Just a tropical garden, plenty of space to unwind and two Dutch hosts who are always happy to share their favourite Madeira tips. Sometimes even before you’ve asked. 😆

Wij vlogen niet naar Madeira voor een week vakantie.
Wij werden verliefd 🫶🏻

Deze foto werd gemaakt op de dag dat wij samen voor het eerst het huis bezichtigden dat later Guesthouse Pachel zou worden. Toen hadden we nog geen idee hoeveel werk ons te wachten stond… en wat voor moois eruit zou ontstaan. 😆

Madeira had lange tijd het imago van een bloemeneiland voor oudere vakantiegangers. Maar inmiddels ontdekken steeds meer jongere reizigers wat dit eiland óók is: ruig, groen en avontuurlijk.

’s Morgens boven de wolken, ’s middags wandelen langs een levada en de dag afsluiten met een poncha aan zee. Actief zijn, lekker eten én af en toe helemaal niets doen: Madeira heeft het allemaal.

Wij werden niet alleen verliefd op het eiland, maar ook op het leven dat we hier voor ons zagen.

Zo ontstond Guesthouse Pachel: ons eigen stukje Madeira in Ponta do Sol. Met uitzicht op de Atlantische Oceaan, een tropische tuin, een infinity pool en een plek waar we onze liefde voor het eiland met onze gasten mogen delen.

Is emigreren iedere dag één grote vakantie? Absoluut niet.
Maar wat zijn we blij dat we die dag zijn gaan kijken.

And yes… it was absolutely worth the 5:15 alarm. 🌅

One of the things we love most about living on Madeira is that there’s always something new to discover. Sometimes that means slow mornings at home, sometimes a spontaneous poncha with an ocean view… and sometimes it means getting out of bed while the rest of the island is still asleep. 🤭

We don’t just tell our guests where to go, we love exploring Madeira ourselves, collecting beautiful places, honest tips and the occasional “perhaps don’t wear slippers for this one” experience along the way.

So if you’d like to experience Madeira beyond the usual tourist spots, you’re more than welcome to make Guesthouse Pachel your home while you do.
We’ll happily share our favourite places with you. 🌿

Our smallest team member takes quality control very seriously. 🐈‍⬛

Every evening, our pussycat carefully checks whether the ocean view is still beautiful, the garden is peaceful and Madeira has delivered another Pachel-worthy sunset.

So far, no complaints. 😆🌅

Just another quiet evening in Ponta do Sol… where the sunsets are spectacular and quality control has four paws.
