We spent our yesterday soaking in the breathtaking scenery of the Paiva Walkways (Passadiços do Paiva) and—yes, we did it!—crossing the jaw-dropping 516 Arouca, one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world! 🤯💚
Suspended 175 meters above the rushing Paiva River, walking across the bridge is an absolute thrill. The views of the Aguieiras Waterfall and the deep canyon are nothing short of spectacular. After the adrenaline rush, we took a peaceful hike along the wooden walkways, surrounded by untouched nature and the soothing sound of the river. 🌊🌿 It’s the ultimate nature escape, and the best part? It's just a scenic drive away from us!
🍽️ Where to refuel?
After burning all those calories, we highly recommend heading to Restaurante Zé Mota. If you want an authentic taste of the region, their traditional Vitela Assada à Moda de Lafões (roasted veal) is absolutely legendary and melts in your mouth! 🥩🍷
💡 Quick tips for your trip:
1️⃣ Book ahead: You must buy your tickets for the 516 Arouca bridge online in advance. (Bonus: your bridge ticket also includes entry to the Passadiços!).
2️⃣ Footwear: Wear good hiking shoes or sneakers. Your feet will thank you later!
3️⃣ Hydrate: Bring plenty of water and some snacks, as there are limited spots to buy them along the trail.

Suspensa a 175 metros sobre o Rio Paiva, atravessar esta ponte é uma verdadeira descarga de adrenalina. As vistas para a Cascata das Aguieiras e para o desfiladeiro são simplesmente espetaculares.
