It starts before you get in the saddle.
At Quinta Lusitânia, working with horses is about more than riding. It is about learning to communicate clearly, developing feel and timing, and understanding the horse as an individual.
That can mean starting on the ground with groundwork and Natural Horsemanship, exploring liberty work and body language, or developing that connection further through riding and dressage.
For experienced riders, there are lessons, dressage training and hacks through the surrounding countryside. For those looking to go deeper, the Quinta also offers intensive courses, clinics and horse-riding holidays where several days can be dedicated to learning, practising and simply spending time with horses.
There is no single way to build a better relationship with a horse.
Sometimes it happens through a conversation on the ground.
Sometimes through a moment of liberty.
Sometimes in the saddle, when communication becomes almost invisible.
The important part is learning to listen and giving the horse a reason to listen back.
