Casa do Monte

The origin of the Casa do Monte is lost in the memory of time. For centuries, it was the heart of a large farm covering the surrounding area. Without pretensions of aristocratic origin, its greatness is reflected in its traditional architecture and functional character, featuring the best materials of the region. The transformation of society and its values gradually faded Casa do Monte into the background. Over the course of the last century, the house fell into disrepair and became derelict.

Fortunately, in the late 20th century, one person had the vision to recover it, and so the house was restored. Today, Casa do Monte is a luxurious holiday home, opening its doors to tourism, combining traditional character with 21st-century comfort. Surrounded by hills and valleys, the house is located in the village of Teixeiró, close to Mesão Frio, in the heart of the Lower Corgo, forming part of the port wine route. The location is ideal for exploring the valley of the Douro, as well as its world-renowned wine tradition.

The house has nine bedrooms, five of which are ensuite. All rooms have central heating and a view over the Teixeiró Valley. Casa do Monte features several dining areas – simple or elaborate, formal or quick. One of the favourite spots for lunch is the patio overlooking the pool and valley. The house has four separate living rooms, ideally set so everyone can relax as they wish, whether it be over a nice glass of Douro wine, peacefully reading a book, or playing the piano.

There’s always something relaxing to do to take the edge off when you stay at Casa do Monte. The house features several indoor areas of entertainment that can be used at any time of the day. From watching a movie in the cinema room, to taking a dip in the swimming pool, or even facing your friends over a game of billiards or table football, there is always something fun to do.
