Vi är mycket stolta över att vara ett privatägt, fristående hotell som huserar i en fastighet med anor från 1600-talet. I och med risken för brand revs trähuset i mitten av 1700-talet och därefter byggdes det palatsliknande hus som står här idag. Huset var fram till 1920-talet privatbostad åt bland annat familjen Bielke, greve Carl Gustaf Piper och greve och kammarherre Axel Wachtmeister. 1928 stiger Jacobson & Ponsbach, fondkommission- och bankirrörelse, in i den nedre våningen för att slutligen ta över ägarskapet av hela fastigheten 1972. Efter en omfattande och mycket varsam renovering flyttade Hotel Kungsträdgården in i den anrika fastigheten. Salongen där eleganta privata fester hölls finns kvar och 98 individuellt dekorerade rum i klassisk gustaviansk stil samt en spektakulär innergård med en av de största kristallkronor du skådat har tillkommit. På innergården huserar Brasserie Makalös, som hämtat namnet från Magnus Gabriel de la Gardies slottsliknande palats som låg alldeles runt hörnet och som brann ned i början på 1800-talet. Brasseriet drivs av krögare Yohan Adell som verkat i Frankrike större delen av sin yrkestid. Ett brasserie är en restaurang som håller öppet nästan dygnet runt där man blir serverad frukost, lunch och middag. Menyn består av klassiska franska rätter som Boeuf Bourguignon och vinlistan är helt igenom fransk. Every old house has its guardian. In Swedish folklore, we have a house spirit who quietly keeps everything whole, working, and in order.

At Hotel Kungsträdgården, ours is Sabry. Ok, he may not be a house spirit, but he sure keeps things together.

If a lamp bulb is broken, a doorknob is loose, or a window gets stuck — almost anything that needs fixing, Sabry is already there before you've noticed it was broken.
He's the reason our almost 300-year-old building keeps its old-world charm while running like clockwork behind the scenes.

Some people make a hotel look beautiful. Sabry makes sure it stays that way.

Long before Hotel Kungsträdgården welcomed its first guests, this corner of Stockholm had another story to tell. In 1764, Countess Eva Charlotta Bielke commissioned a residential building that would become one of the first stone houses on this block.

Kungsträdgården was, at that time, transforming. What had long been a baroque garden reserved for the royal court was beginning to open to the public for the very first time. But no servants or dogs were allowed in the garden.

Over 260 years later, the building still stands and is now home to 94 individually designed rooms, a French brasserie and a concierge team ready to show you the Stockholm that history built.

Our concierge Adam was staying at a hotel in Doha when he received a scented stone as a welcome gift — and the memory stayed with him. Years later, that memory became our signature fragrance: a carefully crafted blend developed together with Stockholms Doftfabrik. Our reed diffusers, scented candles, and waffle robes are available at the reception desk.

Just remember to check opening hours during the summer weeks — some shops have shorter hours or may be closed for a week or two just when you are in town.
