π Finalist Spotlight 1/16
YMCA Vision 2030 Pillar: Community Wellbeing
From Metropolitan YMCA of Singapore ( Singapore), this finalist is transforming inclusion by creating meaningful opportunities for young people and persons with disabilities through an innovative network of social enterprises.
Rather than seeing people as recipients of charity, the initiative empowers them to become active contributors to their communities through an urban farm, cafΓ©, restaurant and mini-mart; creating pathways to employment, independence and belonging.
Impact:
β’ The urban farm has expanded from 1 to 30 growing racks since 2022.
β’ 11 persons with disabilities are now employed across the farm, hotel and restaurant.
β’ More than 129 people have benefited from the programme, with participants reporting greater confidence, mental wellbeing and a stronger sense of purpose.
This project demonstrates how inclusive communities are built when everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute and thrive.
π The winner will be announced on 23 July at the 21st YMCA World Council in Toronto.
