We are Maja and Primož. We live with our two children in the medieval town of Radovljica, which is located about 40 km away from the Holiday House Pr' Matažič.

Completely restored old farmhouse, retains a touch of the old but at the same time offers you a fully equipped home with a swimming pool and a playground with all the comforts. We are grateful to be able to share our little piece of Paradise with you, so that you too can retreat from the stresses of everyday life and reconnect again while creating unforgettable memories at our Holiday House Pr Matazic.

Our holiday house Pr’ Matažič, set in a peaceful part of Slovenia, is available from 27 August and throughout September. 🏡

Enjoy relaxing days in nature, a private pool, plenty of privacy and a wonderful base for exploring Slovenia.

The house is ideal for families, couples, hikers and everyone who enjoys peaceful holidays in nature.

We also managed to get away for a short holiday, and then it was straight back home - just in time for a same-day guest changeover. 🙂
A same-day changeover is already quite a task on its own. But after a two-week stay by the previous guests, there was also plenty to do in the garden and around the property, as well as everything that had ripened in the meantime - some for our new guests and some for us.
Days like this can be exhausting, but I am becoming more and more aware of how much meeting our guests fills me with joy.
We personally welcome every family that stays with us, and we are also there to say goodbye when they leave. This means a lot to both of us, and we feel that it means a lot to our guests too.
When a teenage girl says to you upon arrival:
“Maja, this house is so beautiful. And the nature around it too. I love how the old and the new blend together so beautifully here. I’m so happy we came. I can’t wait to go in the pool.”
Suddenly, the tiredness seems to fade away. 💚
And they almost weren’t here at all.
There was only a three-night gap between two bookings. We usually close such short gaps so that we can prepare the house without rushing and take a little time to breathe ourselves.
But this time, I had a feeling that I should leave it open.
“We’ll manage,” I told myself.
And we did.
Our new guests drove all the way from the Czech Republic for a short three-night break. They told us it had been a last-minute decision.
I smiled and thought:
“Now I know why we did things differently this time.” 💚

September is one of the most beautiful times to visit Holiday House Pr’ Matažič. 🏡🍃

The days are still pleasantly warm, nature becomes calmer, and it is the perfect season to explore Slovenia without the summer crowds. 🌿✨

Our peaceful countryside location between is a lovely starting point for discovering rivers, gorges, mountain views and charming places on a day trip. ⛰️💦

And when you return to the house, the pool is still pleasantly warm and perfect for a relaxing swim. ☀️💦

Every guest who arrives at our holiday house receives a small homemade welcome - our traditional Slovenian walnut liqueur, called orehovec.

It is made from young green walnuts, picked in early summer, and then left to rest in the sun for a few weeks until it develops its rich, aromatic flavour.

Our supply has already run out this season, so Primož is preparing a fresh batch for our future guests.

Our holiday home offers a safe home not only for guests, but also for a very special visitor. 🦇
For many years now, a bat has returned to stay with us, choosing our home as a safe place to rest. Each season, its return reminds us of the beauty of living in harmony with nature.
Bats play an important role in the ecosystem by helping to control insect populations and maintain a healthy natural balance. We are delighted that our holiday home has become part of this little visitor’s journey.
