Hostel Pekarna Hostel Pekarna is a modern hostel in the lively town of Maribor, offering premium accommodations.

Close to Magdalenski Park and Drava River, the excellent location of Hostel Pekarna provides the right base to explore Maribor, the biggest city of the Region of Lower Styria. Hostel Pekarna is part of the Cultural Centre Pekarna, a building complex that used to be a bakery, built at the turn of the century by the Austro-Hungarian army for the purpose of bread supply for the nearby barracks. From the common sunny outdoor terrace, guests can enjoy the exclusive view of mountain landscape, Pohorje Mountain, whose ski slope hosts the women’s slalom and giant slalom races for the Alpine Skiing World Cup, known as “Zlata lisica” (Golden Fox). Maribor hosts also the two-week Festival Lent: every June hundreds of artistic, musical, theatrical events are offered. With a young, dynamic and colourful atmosphere, the wholly renovated and modernly designed Hostel offers accommodation in seven 4-bed rooms with private bathrooms, hardwood floors, free Wi-Fi and air condition, located right across the wide corridor functioning as a space for socialising and relaxing, leading the way to the wooden terrace. Attic studio apartment and suites are designed as a residency center. Guests can choose between studio apartments with modern equipment, private kitchen and bathroom and LCD satellite TV, or suites with private kitchen, bathroom, LCD satellite TV and terrace. Hostel Pekarna offers to all the guests:
- a wide living room, where in the mornings there is a rich breakfast,
- a cosy and comfy club room with books and sofas, used also for organising individual thematic meetings for pleasant evening hours,
- an on-site bar and vending machines with a wide selection of refreshing drinks and snacks,
- a fully equipped kitchen,
- free bike rental,
- free parking,
- DIY laundry service where you can wash and dry your clothes,
- two seminar rooms equipped with the latest AV technology can be booked for conference, lectures, as well as for cultural and youth activities. Restaurants, pubs, shops, the shopping mall, Maribor’s city centre, the Gothic Maribor Cathedral and Renaissance City Hall are very close on foot and any part of the city can be accessible with public transportation: the bus station and the train station are at a distance of 50 mt. Maribor Main Bus Station and the Train Station a re 1.5 km from the Hostel.

Danes, 21. septembra 2026, mineva natanko petnajst let, odkar je vrata prvič odprl Hostel Pekarna, ki deluje pod okriljem Mladinskega kulturnega centra Maribor (MKC Maribor).

𝐇𝐎𝐏 🟰 1️⃣5️⃣ let/years! 🥳🎂🥂🎉

🇸🇮: Enkrat na leto HOP deluje kot uradno zbirno mesto in »Božičkovo skladišče« za vseslovensko dobrodelno akcijo Božiček za en dan. Recepcija in skupni prostori hostla se med novembrom in decembrom spremenijo v praznično točko, kjer osebje ter prostovoljci sprejemajo in sortirajo praznična darila za otroke ter starostnike iz socialno šibkih družin. Iz tega začasnega skladišča vsako leto odpotuje več sto unikatnih paketov, s čimer HOP ponovno potrjuje svojo vlogo aktivnega srca lokalne skupnosti. 🎅🎁

🇬🇧: Once a year, HOP serves as the official collection point and “Santa’s Warehouse” for the nationwide charity campaign “Santa for a Day.” Between November and December, the hostel’s reception area and common spaces are transformed into a festive hub where staff and volunteers receive and sort holiday gifts for children and seniors from socially vulnerable families. Every year, hundreds of unique gift packages are sent out from this temporary warehouse, reaffirming HOP’s role as the beating heart of the local community. 🎅🎁

𝐇𝐎𝐏 🟰 1️⃣5️⃣ let/years! 🥳🎂🥂🎉

🇸🇮: Pred Hostlom Pekarna je ena od dveh skupnostnih shramb, ki delujeta po principu Vzemi ali deli: kdor ima, lahko v shrambo odložijo hrano in higienske pripomočke, kdor nima, pa lahko iz shrambe anonimno vzame stvari, ki jih potrebuje. Pobudo za vzpostavitev shrambe so podale študentke Filozofska fakulteta Univerze v Mariboru, projekt pa je zaživel pod okriljem programa Banka idej. 🥫🪥

🇬🇧: In front of Hostel Pekarna is one of two community pantries that operate on a “take or share” basis: those who have extra food and hygiene supplies can drop them off at the pantry, while those in need can anonymously take what they need from it. The initiative to establish the pantry was launched by students at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Maribor, and the project came to life under the auspices of the Bank of Ideas program. 🥫🪥

🇸🇮: V letu 2022 je Hostel Pekarna izpolnil vse pogoje, da je lahko postal invalidom prijazna namestitev. Tako smo se priključili mreži različnih ponudnikov, kjer lahko osebe z različnimi oblikami invalidnosti z EU invalidsko kartico ugodnosti koristijo različne popuste. ♿

🇬🇧: In 2022, Hostel Pekarna met all the requirements to become a disability-friendly accommodation. As a result, we joined a network of various providers where people with different types of disabilities can enjoy various discounts by presenting their EU Disability Card. ♿
