More than 150 years ago, a Swiss doctor named Arnold Rikli came to Lake Bled and made a bold claim: real health can't be bought from a pharmacy. It comes from air, light, water, movement and simple food. 🌿

He built the first "air huts" on the shore of Bled, sending his guests into the hills, up to the summit of Triglav, and into the crisp mountain air, believing that unspoilt nature itself was the cure.

Just 20 minutes from where it all began, Pokljuka still holds that same untouched wilderness Rikli was searching for - dense forests, silence and some of the cleanest air in the Alps.

At Jakob's Lodge, we like to think Rikli would feel right at home here.

Most people know Slovenia for Lake Bled. Fewer know what lies above it.
Pokljuka is a different kind of quiet. Forest, open pasture and air so fresh it feels unfamiliar. Across the plateau, the old Alpine herdsmen's cottages still stand modest, weathered and completely at home in the landscape. Up here, things have been done the same way for a very long time and for good reason. The cheese is local and the ingredients don't travel far to reach our table at Jakob's Lodge.
It is a privilege to call it home.�

Spring is slowly returning to the mountains above Jakob’s Lodge. ❄️🌿
At the local spring, the stream still holds the last traces of winter, with a delicate layer of ice remaining after the cold nights. Yet under clear skies and warmer days, the landscape is beginning to change.

The snow is receding, birdsong is strongly returning and soon the first flowers will appear. Before long, the meadows surrounding Triglav National Park will be covered with spring crocuses.

Until then, we are enjoying the warmth of the sun, the sound of the water and the rare calm that this place offers while quietly preparing Jakob’s Lodge for the season ahead.
