We sit in a canal-side corner of old Banglamphu, about a ten minute walk from Khao San Road but far enough that mornings here are mostly birds, water, and the sound of nobody being in a hurry. Shade from the trees, the pool sitting still until someone finally gets in.
What a lot of people miss is the neighbourhood around us. It's the good kind of old Bangkok, the part you usually only find by accident:

☕ Phra Athit Road, five minutes on foot, small coffee shops and shophouse bars where nobody rushes you out

🌅 Santichaiprakan Park and Phra Sumen Fort, riverside sunset, mostly locals, free

🛶 Phra Athit pier, where the orange flag boat takes you down to Wat Arun, Chinatown and Talat Noi for pocket change

🏘️ Trok Ban Bat, the old monk's bowl village, where a few families still hammer alms bowls by hand

✨ Golden Mount at Wat Saket, twenty minutes' walk, the best view of the old town at golden hour
The Grand Palace and Wat Pho are an easy walk too, if you want the postcard ones.

Good Morning ☀️ A Chill Day Around Banglamphu
We'd like to suggest something simple:

take your time and enjoy Banglamphu at your own pace.
With the canal running alongside our neighborhood, there's no need to plan too many activities. Just walk, explore, find something delicious, take a break, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Start your morning by following the canal from our hotel toward Wat Saket (The Golden Mount). It's a lovely way to explore the local neighborhood on foot. Take your time, stop for something to eat, and when you're ready, simply walk back to the hotel and rest for a while.
Then, when the afternoon heat begins to ease, head out again and follow the canal in the opposite direction toward Santi Chai Prakan Park. Recently, the public walkway right in front of our hotel has been beautifully renovated, making it easier and more enjoyable to walk along the canal in both directions.
Continue toward the park, relax by the Chao Phraya River, enjoy the breeze, and watch the Old Town slowly come alive in the evening. 🌅

We've been arguing about this in the kitchen for weeks, so we're putting it to you instead. Four dishes, one very Banglamphu decision. which one actually deserves the "Signature" title?
🍤 Pad Thai
wok-charred noodles, sweet-tangy tamarind, a good crunch of bean sprouts, and shrimp that still tastes like it just came off the ice. Lamphu Tree style.

🍛 Massaman Curry
chicken and potato simmered low and slow in coconut milk until the sauce is thick enough to cling to the rice, with that warm hit of cinnamon and star anise you can smell before the bowl even lands on the table.

🍲 Tom Yum Goong
sour and spicy up front, heavy on lemongrass, the kind that clears your sinuses on the first spoonful. Prawns cooked just enough, not a second more.

🍗 Stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts, rice, and a fried egg with a yolk that's still soft in the middle. Simple, but it's the one regulars order without even looking at the menu.
